Question about Arris SB6121 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 eXtreme Broadband Cable Modem (612572180136)
After upgrading to this modem Mot SB6121) from a linksys DOCSIS 2 modem, my son immediately noticed some lags while play COD modern warfare 3. Character seems to freeze for a couple of seconds and then jumps ahead to resume play. Other players can see my son's character freeze then jump to new location.gameplay was fine with the old linksys. Speedtest is great with 17 mbps down and 3.8 mbps up with Comcast cable, and computer internet activity is just fine. The xbox console is connected via ethernet hard wire and the xbox connection test indicates the connection is fine. any ideas?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: cable modem + dlink router
Your modem needs to be rebooted in order for your router to pull an IP from the modem. To do this, look for a little hole in the back of your modem and use a pen to push the button. Wait for the reboot to finish and then try again in about 20 seconds.

Ok to start the yellow ethernet port should be connected straight to the Linksys router in the ethernet in port. Then you connect the cmputer to one of the other the 4 ports on the back of the wireless router. wala you shouldn't have any more trouble after that.

Most cable company's will not allow you to use the USB and the ethernet connection at the same time. You will need to only use ethernet to your PC and your XBOX. Once you have the ethernet cord connected from your modem to the WAN/Internet port on your router you will need to press the reset button on the back of the arris to authorise the router for access. After that is done you will plug you XBOX into 1 of the 4 numbered ports on the router. Then you will need an additional ethernet cord for your PC.
Hope this helps

SOURCE: Unable to set up wireless router
Shut down your computer, unplug the cable modem and the switch. Connect all three - computer to switch, switch to modem. Make sure that the ethernet cable between the router and the modem is in the router uplink port and that the computer is plugged into one of the four ports that look alike. Wait 30 seconds - plug in the modem. Wait another 30 seconds, plug in the router, wait another 30 seconds and boot the computer. Open a browser and see if you have internet access. If you still don't, then try to check the browser by typing 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of the browser. That should give you the browser sign in screen. The Linksys default is to leave the user name blank and type admin for the password. That should give you access to the router so you can check the settings. If this doesn't work, document carefully what happens and post again with your results and we'll try to go from there.
