SOURCE: goodman ac / heat pump

Goodman energizes it reversing valve in the cooling mode. Usually in the "o" circuit of the thermostat wiring. You may have that wired hot somehow.

SOURCE: no heat

Well on some a/c units you need to put water in a special area so that the machine can cool it down to the freezing point and blow air over it therefore releasing cool air. If that doesn't work you can always return it for a new one. Hope this helped. =)

SOURCE: heat pump is not kicking in, no heat at 42 degree outdoor temp

HI,

Most likely has a freon leak , or a control problem causing heat to turn on, or if you have a heatpump the reversing valve has a problem.

SOURCE: goodman heat pump the fan runs but blows the 3amp fuse

The 3 amp fuse is for you're control voltage only, which is 24volts,ac. Something in the control side of your unit has a direct short in it. Since I am not on site to help you find out what part is at fault, I will give you some things to check out.You say you're indoor fan runs. I can only assume when you put the thermostat fan to on and not auto. Since this is a heat-pump, and not a gas fired unit, you will have a few less things that are 24volts.You say it blows the fuse on both heat and cool. You or someone that may give you a hand needs to do a process of elimination. What you will need to do, is to check all of the 24v. components to see which is at fault. The 24volts via relays and coils are what controls the motors, compressor, ect. We know that the indoor fan is good. I would be looking at the contacter coil first, even though the thermostat is 24volts. Since the contacter controls the condenser fan motor and compressor, my guess would be the coil on your contactor is shorted. I am not sure if you're heat-pump is a package unit or a split? Either way, you need to open up the control section of the compressor section which on a split its the outdoor unit. On a package unit, its where the main power enters. That would be on what ever kind of Goodman you may have, the 220volts come in and each of the 2 hot wires connect to the bottom of the contactor. What to do 1st.What ever it is, a split or a pack unit, turn off the main power to unit, split, outdoor unit, pack, whole unit.Even if this is a split system, when you turn the power off to the outdoor unit, you will still have 24volts to it when you turn the stat on.The 24 volts comes from the fan center on the indoor unit. With all of the power off, look at the contactor. On each side you will see 2 wires to a copper coil. Pull off these 2 wires, and dont let them touch anything even though they are dead.Turn power back on and check the 3 amp fuse. It should be fine. Now, with the power turned back on, touch these 2 wires back to the coil. This should blow the fuse. If it does, that contactor needs to be replaced.I know this is a lot to check, but I am sure the contactor coil is shorted. You will have to buy one from a retail appliance store. Every wire must be put back in its original place. If you don't think you can test this, I would advise calling someone out. I know this is a long solution, but i am sure that is the problem. Let me know please. Good Luck,
Shastalaker7
Ps an electrical meter would be of a lot of use to you. One more thing, if the copper coil on the contacter is burned and black, just turn off all power and replace it. I am certain this is your fault.

Carrier 52CE set on high heat; blows cool air

Toget proper heat, keep your temp setting at 30+ degree and also mode in "heat"position. If still no heat, check your heating sensor for closed circuit by anOHMs metre. It it's with RV, check power to RV.If it's with heatingelement check power to element. If power is there but still no heat meanselement defective. Replace new heating element. Thanks.

Can somebody help, why is my Central AC blows

Most heat pumps have an auxillary heat. Many are electric auxillary heat with a heat strip in the air handler. A common malfunction is for the electric auxillary heat to operate when the heat pump is set on cool. To confirm this, locate the conductor that runs from the heat sequencer to the connection on the heat strip. You will see this on the top section of the air handler. Use the clamp on part of the amp meter over that wire. If the thermostat is set on cool and the heat strip is drawing amps, it means the heat is coming on while the heat pump is set on cool. There is usually one or two causes for this, either the sequencer is bad or there is low voltage wires usually behind the thermostat or in the air handler closet that are touching that shouldn't be touching.

If this is not the case, if its not a problem of where the heat is coming on with the air conditioner, it could be a case of the reversing valve malfunctioning. The way a heat pump works is it reverses the flow of the refridgerant. For instance, many heat pumps the reversing valve is activated in cool. That would mean that there is a low voltage circuit that activates the reversing valve when the heat pump is in cool. I'm not sure what model/brand your heat pump is, Goodman and Janitrol for instance, the heat pump reversing valve is activated in cool. In any case, if the reversing valve is not operating properly, when the air conditioning is set to cool it will actually be heating. Or you could set it to heat and it may actually be cooling instead of heating. Please check these two items first and if you have any further questions, please let me know. Especially if you know of any additional problems like the evaporater is icing up or if the air handler fan is not operating when it should.
