Camera acting weird: turns off a second after turning on...

My DSC-P92 for no obvious reason (i didn't drop it or anything) acts weird: using the rechargeable batteries it won't even make a move on an attempt of turning it on. When I put in normal batteries (not rechargeable) from the local grocery it starts up for approx. 1 sec., the power led lights up and the lens moves maybe 5mm out and then the camera shuts off again... would anyone be able to give me a hint? unfortunatelly the Cam is out of it's warranty time and i am not the guy to just throw electronics out of the window, even if i know it might sell for as little as 50US$ new on Ebay ;-) Thanks for all advise.

Re: Camera acting weird: turns off a second after turning...

Hi, I also have one of these cameras which behaved very similarly. The fault cleared when I replaced my rechargeable batteries for new ones or when using new good qaulity branded batteries. When my rechargeable batteries became tired the output was not sufficient enough to fully open the lens. I hope this helps and your

Need driver for Sony DSC-P92 to download to CD

You don't need a driver in order to use your camera.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.
If you really want a driver, take a look here to see whether Sony has one for your operating system.

I have had my camera for about 4-5 years. It has worked great. lately it has started to act weird. when I turn it on the screen says access and wont let me take a picture. then after a few minutes the...

Go to camera Menu and select Initialize, OK.
Camera will turn on itself, if problem still exist, tap camera gently and turn On again to solve lens access problem.
Memory stick error can be solved by formatting it through Format menu in camera. Use another memory stick in camera to make sure that camera is OK.

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-P92. I have replaced and recharged batteries but the camera will not turn on. The light blinks on and the tone sounds and then nothing.

Take the camera card out of the camera.

This is a factory reset procedure so you will loose any pics in the internal memory!!

Turn the camera off and take the battery out (including AC power). move the power switch to the ON position and hold down the power button for 15 seconds, then move the power switch to the OFF position and release the button, put the battery back in and power on the camera.
NOTE: you will have to reset the time and date + any previous user settings.

Hope this helps!!

Good luck

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P92

Take the battery out and hold the power button down for 30 seconds.  This will reset the camera.  Put the battery back in and see of camera works properly.  If not, it could be the CCD sensor and Sony may repair it for free.  Call Sony at 800-222-7669.  Might as well give it a shot...a cybershot.
