I have this problem suddenly together with having the difficulties of scanning problem.

But I can still use the printer or scanner a week before.

How to reset the Canon MP150 after a refill (Step 10 concerns refill; instructions below the steps):
Method1 (Safe Factory Method):
1) Disconnect the printer’s power outlet
2) Press and hold the power button while connecting the power outlet back.
3) While still holding down the power button, press the reset button twice.(red circle with a triangle)
4) Release the power button
The printer takes about 10 seconds to show the number 0.
5) Press + to change the value from 0 to 1.
6) When this value is 1, press colour button; this will light up two leds.
One is for plain paper and the other for photo paper. At this point is feed the printer with paper.
7) Press the power button twice and the printer will print a some stuff (if this page doesn't print by itself, press the "color" button once and the test page will print). Don’t worry much about the printed material. I got some stripped lines and some numbers. I believe that my colour cartridge is clogged which is why I got the green strips.
When you print this sheet the value in the display returns to zero.
8 ) Open the printer cover cover (not the scanner cover) and remove the cartridges. With the printer still open, disconnect the power outlet.
9) Close the lid and turn on the printer.
10) Refill cartridges and place them back in their nice little abode in the printer.

It works only to the 10 step. The error is gone after 9 step, without the cartridges(!!!!) but when I put the cartridges back the E5 is displayed again.

Here's the solution to reset the MP 150 1) First power off the printer. Next, while holding STOP/RESET button, power on the printer. 2) While holding POWER button, release STOP/RESET button. Then push STOP/RESET button twice. 3) Wait about 20-30 second until the LED shows "0". The push STOP/RESET button four times. 4) Finally push POWER button twice. Last step is to turn off the printer by pressing the POWER button one last time.

Hi, I think I followed the instructions carefully; however the low ink warning lights are still on. Has anyone actually followed these instructions and had success? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. The only ambiguous instruction is that we are not told when to release the POWER button in step 2.

tried all of these ideas on this site but this is the only thing that works for my printer :
    download mptool :http://pcprinter.blogspot.com/2008/02/mp...
    then follow thes instructions:
The MPTool is designed for service works with the printer Canon MP-Series
    when in Low-Level mode.

    Currently supported for
    MP150, MP160, MP170, MP180, MP450, MP460. MP150, MP160, MP170, MP180, MP450, MP460.

    BEFORE activating MPTool...you need to

    To activate LOW LEVEL mode:

    1. Unplug the power cord to the printer for a moment.

    2. Then, hold*down the on/off*button while plugging in the power cord.
Keep holding the on/off button down.

    3. Right away the green power light (in the button) will turn on solid.*
Keep holding the on/off button down.

    4. Press and release the Stop/Reset button.
(the button w a red triangle in a red circle)

    5. Now you can release the on/off*putton.

The* green power light will go off and the yellow Alarm light will stay on.
Now you can run MPTOOL and resetting the ink counters will work.

Your printer will show up as "another" Cannon printer.
When you finish you must again unplug the power cord for a moment
and then just plug it back in. After you do this, you'll see both
printers listed in Printers (controll panel) and one will show as
offline. You can then rename this offline printer as "Low Mode Canon"
or whatever works for you so you don't mix it up with other functions.

If you have refilled your old cartridges, rather than replacig them with new ones, then the printer reads the chip on the old cartridge as empty. It can't tell how much ink is in there. SO you just have to keep an eye out for when the ink seems to be running low due to the quality and refill them again.

MP160 ink level won't reset

The only _bypass_ is to ignore the warnings/lamps, and keep using your printer until it runs out of ink.

The only _solution_ is to purchase "original" cartridges, i.e., do not use "refilled" cartridges.

My canon mp 150 has a warning ink refill cartridge

After so many prints the printer gives you this warning because it is possible that the waste ink pads (that collect any spilt ink in the bottom of the printer) are full. You have two options. You can either reset the waste ink counter and the printer will run but might get some ink leakage if it has had a lot of use or replace the pad and reset the counter.

A waste ink kit for this printer is Canon part number QY5-0149-000. A quick search on the will get you the part for about £5. Too fit it you will need to take the printer apart but that is easy with a service manual from here: http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/4589462-canon-pixma-mp150-printer-service-manual The manual will also tell you how to reset the waste counter.

Hope that helps.

Ihave a Canon Pixma MP150. Not long since had ink refill, working perfect yesterday and now saying ink cartridges cannot be recognised why is it saying this now. Please can someone help with this problem....

i just refilled my ink cartridges black and color ones, but my warning sign still reads that my cartridges are low. How do I tell it, it has new ink cartridges or refills? I printed a test page and an alignment page, thinking it would somehow get the picture, but not yet.
