Question about Frigidaire ATF6000ES Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Rubber Gasket I have a new Frigidaire Front Load Washer and there is a build up of mold in the creases. After being on line for approx 20 min I gave up. We purchased the washer 4/07 and had it delivered 7/07 to our new home. I did not extend the warrantee because I was very satisfied with everything. No one told me anything problem that might occure with the rubber gasket. I tried running bleach through the wash cycle, but there is already a hole eaten through the gasket. I just wish someone had told me the problem with this machine and I might have made a different choice. GLTF2950ES.

RUBBER LINER COLLECTING MOLD

I have been struggling with the same issue for a long time. Regular bleach and mold-killing products did not work. But I just tried Clorox "Washing Machine Cleaner" and was amazed. I scraped off the loose mold from the rubber gasket and then painted on the product, which is thicker than bleach. After about 20 min. I scrubbed it down with water and painted a second coat on the tough areas. No more mold. I also ran some through the machine per the instructions for good measure and ran another rinse cycle. I am in no way connected to Clorox, but I am so happy to be rid of this problem. Good luck. <!-- from fixya rte -->

Smell of mold and mold on rubber in front loader

If you don't leave the door open when not in use and not wipe the door dry and the door gasket dry, mold will build up as there is no air to let the moisture escape into. Makes sense, manufactures do no not say this in their manuals, I think they should !

I have the same problem, mold and nasty odor. I just spoke with a very nice young lady at Frigidaire. I was patient but forceful. I requested a new gasket and she agreed to send it directly to me so...

Front loaders are known for building up mold and the smell.
It’s caused by using liquid detergent which is made from animal fat. Use powder. And use the minimum amount.
It’s caused by using fabric softener. Dilute it 50/50 with water.
It’s caused by the water remaining in the tub between washes. Leave the door open to allow it to dry. .
Pull the rubber door seal back and clean the mold off .
Affresh is recommended by some manufacturers. You run it through a wash cycle with it.

Mold build up around ribber gasket . Heavy, black and hard

Front load washers are notorious for developing mold/mildew to build up because they retain a lot of moisture in the round gasket the door closes into. Wash it down with a 50:50 soulution of bleach and water. You may have to use a brush on the "hard" stuff. Occasionally, run a quick load with no clothes and just bleach through a complete cycle in the washer. After a heavy day's washinh, leave the door open a little to help dry it ou.

Leave washer door slightly ajar after use to air out any moisture. Should prevent any future mold.

Mold build up around rubber in washer drum. Can

Buy affresh washer cleaner. You can order it over the internet and this should take the mold off and then if you use this regularly like the package explains it will keep the washer from molding. I use this stuff on all the front loaders that come into my shop. This stuff works great.
