Question about Whirlpool Dishwashers
PROBLEM: Whirlpool Dishwasher DU1100XTPS1- "Start" button has no effect at all when pressed. "Normal" cycle light does not come on when button pressed, but other cycle light do come on when their buttons are pressed. "Start" button does not respond at all, even when one of the responsive cycle lights is lit. "Cancel/Drain" does activate the drain cycle and clears water, but the drain cycle does not turn off automatically; must be turned off manually. DETAILS THAT PROBABLY DON'T MATTER: Some screws around door frame seem to have stripped thru plastic in frame so door torques easily. Second owner of this home, so don't know history. WHAT I'VE TRIED: I tried to reset using 'hitemp-heat-hitemp-heat' button press sequence (suggested by Rylee Smith for another posted issue) with no effect. I WELCOME your suggestions, especially those that are cheap, effective, simple and fast!! (Listed in order of preference) Thank you!!

Please confirm your model is the same as the one shown in this manual.
i am unable to find any mention that "start pad" -- means door switch problem.
You can check out the door switch by getting to the right parts using this diagram. Door switch is item 12.
Please post a comment to confirm what you found.

unplug where the dishwasher drains into your garbage disposal and visually assure by looking in that hole that there is no build up there. You could have a partial blockage either at this spot or in the drain line itself. I do tend to find this alot for people that do put there coffee grounds down there garbage disposal. If you have looked and checked the entire drain line and drain port that goes into the disposal one of the next places you would look would be to assure that the float switch is activating the switch in the right postion and is not bent. Also on the inside of your tub you will see the float itself this connects to the float switch which is located on the underside of the tub usually to the right of the water inlet valve. If the float switch checks out well then you would look at the drain pump itself and remove the pump from the unit and use a extension cord that you would cut the female end off and add two electrical connectors to which by doing this you have just created a powered jumper wire. You can then connect the two connectors to the pump and the other end to the wall to visually see the impellar on the inside of the pump functioning. Also before removeing the pump sometimes I also find that on some units the way the drain hose is run is the issue as well where as it should be higher then the port hole on the disposal and not just run along the floor and then right to the disposal. If anything it should be run upwards to the highest point of the underside of the sink and then connected to the disposal which causes a better vaccum in the drain line and the pump doesnt have to constantly be pushing the water upwards. If you have any further questions message me back I await your reply. Please also remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations in the future. Thanks again

This is a problerm caused by the main control circuit board that is behind all the control buttons, the part is about $150.00 and about 1 hour to replace it.
