SOURCE: I want to upgrade Ram

Hello there.

Upgrading your computer can be a complicated task, as there are lots of different types of memory available. Luckily there are means to make it much easier.

What i would suggest is clicking here and running the memory scan, it will tell you what memory you have exactly already and let you know which new memory is compatible and best suited for this system.

I have purchased and used crucial memory for a lot time, it has free delivery and lifetime warranty. If you do not want to buy it online, print out the page it shows you and take that into your local store, they will be able to choose similar memory.

Hope this helps.

was your vostro 230 third generation? meaning, did it use DDR2 memory before or always had DDR3? They are not compatible. 2nd generation computers cannot use third gen parts. cpu, ram, most none of that type stuff. the motherboards are different and cannot change. if it was ddr2 memory you have to use ddr2, not ddr3, hope that helps.

I have pc p4 3.06 intel processor and i hav now DDR1 RAM in my pc can i use ddr2 ram by removing ddr1 ram will my motherboard support ddr2 ram

Sorry but you cannot interchange ddr1 for ddr2. They are different kinds of RAM, and your chipset (865GV) can only accept ddr1. If you want to use ddr2, or even ddr3 then upgrade to a newer motherboard.

I want to upgrade my ram for my pc...atmost to how much i can upgrade and in each slot individually how much capacity of ram it supports ...my motherboard is 915glvg

i would like to inform you that *********** board supports upto 4 gb ram and 2 gb in 2 slots will be the best combination but depends on the OS you are using if its 32 bit XP or Vista it wont accept more than 3 gb so if you wish to use your system in full throttle mode upgrade you r OS to 64 bit XP or Vista and enjoy all 4gb standards that you actually wish to but even 3 gb is like playing with wild fire that will be really too fast processing speed and thrilling performance that you expect.

thanks and regards
