Question about GE GTWN3000MWS Washer

Open Question

We just purchased a washer (GTWN3000MWS slow agitator

Wish I would have read over this site before I bought this same model this week. Mine has an extremely slow agitator and the model seems so rickety that it seems to want to fall apart any minute .My problem is that the agitator runs slow, and VERY slow the more filled the drum is. I am returning it after 4 days for another one (same model). This one has to be defective. Home Depot was good about OKing the switch, although I got talked out of upping to a better model instead of at least trying the same model again. The price was good for this GTWN3000, but I am really used to a heavy duty machine. I thought this was heavy duty because the drum is 3.6 cu. The Home Depot service person was very helpful and explained more stuff about this machine than the sales person volunteered originally. The price was good and GE is supposed to be a good brand. The second one (switched) comes in Sat. Will let all know what happens then.

SOURCE: Brand new Washer 2 dys

The best advice I can give on this issue is for you to go to lowes and explain the issue with your salesman. Make sure they sold you the washer you wanted and have him describe how it is supposed to work and describe to him how it is actually working. There may be a setting that is not being used correctly, such as gentle wash cycle or hand wash. If I have you start taking things apart to have them checked, it will void any warranty you might have so we don't want to do that. If he can't resolve the issue with a few tips or instructions and it appears to be the machine that is not functioning correctly then make them take it back and get you a new one. 2 days old should be covered under their replacement warranty. I personally do not like these big box stores because their inventory is sometimes suspicious. You might pay slightly more at a mom and pop dealer but you will get a ton more service and help from them than you will at these dealers.

Remove the fabric softener cup, remove the plastic insert, then there is a 7/16th bolt you need to remove and the agitator will lift out.

We just purchased a washer (GTWN3000MWS), so unsure if it's new technology or not working properly. The agitator is only at one speed, which is slow. It is around 1 second per twist one way, 1 second...

Hello,

It defiently should agitate faster than that, the most probable thing causing that is a stripped agitator coupler. I have included a youtube video that shows step by step how to replace the coupler

Good luck
I hope this helps,if it does please give me a 4 thumbs up rating

The agatator doesn't move back and forth unless I hold it to one side or the other alittle with my finger then it works???

If the washer is running normally, but the agitator is slipping, then you may have worn agitator cam assembly, agitator dogs, or a loose agitator bolt. The following link explains what the dogs are, and how to access to access the bolt and replace them:

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites I listed also include helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need. If you do not wish to order parts on line, use the part numbers from the Sears website and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. Most of these parts are commonly sold as part of their in-store inventory.

NOTE: It is usually more cost effective to purchase the cam replacement kit for just a few dollars more. The kit usually includes the agitator dogs, cam bearing, cam and any washers or seals.

Agitator of my washing machine will not move, need a maint manual to show me how to remove it and how to open the top lid for this kenmore washing machine.

If this is a Whirlpool manufactured TOP LOADER WASHER (such as Roper, Kenmore, Estate and some later model Maytags), these model washers use a motor coupling in place of a drive belt and are known as direct-drive systems. If the washer does not agitate or spin, it could have several causes. Most commonly, this is caused by either a lid switch malfunction or a broken motor coupling. The following link explains how you can diagnose the problem yourself and repair:
