Question about Kenmore Elite 22.4 cu. ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator with Adjusta Cube Ice Maker
Kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator. model 596.6523 about 3 years old. Freezer door was open aprox. 2 inches overnight. Lots of frost in freezer & refridge stopped cooling. Found coils frosted over & thawed. worked good for 2 days. shut off power for about 16 hrs. worked good for 4 days. now refridge is warm, lots of frost in freezer & it appears that the coils in freezer are iced over again.
What should I look for?
You need a qualified technician for this problem.
- Your unit may have leaking try to check for oil traces.
- The system maybe restricted, system reprocess is needed for this unit.
- If the unit is no frost try to check if there is an air circulation inside the unit. If no air is present then check your fan motor inside.

SOURCE: Fridge warm, freezer is cold
First off all i type so fast that my spelling is junk! so bear with me. now most tec's will recomend that you defrost the unit. uhh uhhh . the fact of the mater is you have air in the lines they hope that the air due to defrost will settle to the bottom, well we both know that air always goes where! lol to the top. lol. this is crazy but this is somthing they dont want you to know . see when you take the unit in to get repiared they (a corse when you leave) will flipp the unit up side down fore about 30 min to get those air molicles to te top . then quickly flipping it back up plugging it in just to get the compresser to kick in thuss leving the air at the bottom . doing this properly and susksefly will fix the problem. see when this unit was made was upside down. lol. you dident know this right. well every 100 unit is tested . lol they have to flip it up right when it passes the test. so what do they do . flip it back down. lol . before it leaves the back door its flipped back up agin.lol . to make a long story short you have one of those 100 units lol. its ok i just armed you with the key to the lock.

SOURCE: I have a zanussi fridge
Hello Mr Barnard
Welcome to fixya
You said, You have a zanussi fridge freezer combination, it is a frost free model, And you're developing lots of frost in the freezer which never used to happen and the fridge is not getting cold, some condensation does appear inside the fridge, it is 2years old.
Frost could mean a few things.
Is the freezer cold but the fridge not?
If so the freezer may be so full that the articles are covering the air vents in the back that share the cold air with the fridge.
I've have seen the freezers packed to the hilt!
More things to check.
Is the condenser in the back or under the front of the fridge. If it is under the front of the fridge you must remove the plastic grill`(The condenser is the thin black metal tubing that runs back and forth to make up your condenser). This needs to be free of dust and have air passing over and through it!
they sell refrigerator brushes for this at the hardware store.
I have had customers that never ran the brush under there ever and had 1 to 2 inches of dust and lint
under there between the tubes. After a few hours it was cool the next day it was cold!
The freon level pressure should be checked in case you have a leak.
The thermostat may be bad.
Let me know what works for you.

In some cases, a faulty thermostat may not be the cause of a warm refrigerator or freezer. A warm box may also be caused by a defective fan, a blocked fan, or broken or bent fan blades. If the blades are jammed, try to free them. If they're bent, straighten them with pliers. If this doesn't solve the problem, call a professional service person.
On some refrigerators, the door switch operates the evaporator fan. If the fan seems to be malfunctioning, the door switch could be faulty. Test the switch as detailed in the last page, and replace it if necessary.

FREEZERS SHOULD BE TEMP AT O /REFRIGERATOR SHOULD BE 40/FOR PERFECT OPERATION.1ST IS THE FAN RUNNING IN THE FREEZER/IF YES UNPLUG FOR 6-8 HOURS AND RETRY/IF NO UNPLUG THE FRIDGE AND REMOVE THE BACK PANEL OF THE FREEZER MAKE SURE THE FAN IS PLUGGED IN.IF SO PLUG IN THE FRIDGE AND SEE IF THE FAN IS TURNING.IF NOT YOU NEED A NEW FAN IF THE FRIDGE IS NEW MAKE THEM BRING YOU A REPLACEMENT FOR FREE.

If you still have the frost build up on the back wall of the freezer, your problem is in the defrost circuit. You'll find a bad heater, terminator or control.
Also verify operation of the evaporator (freezer) fan.
