Carriage Is Jamming - Security Message on Screen

Hi- My machine will not embroider. It has been working fine, but now the carriage (that holds the bobbin) is "jamming" and sort of "popping up" causing the machine to give me the security feature message before even stitching. I noticed that the "spring" part (the silver part beside the carriage seems to be moving around too freely. It can come out of the machine only attached by wires. I am wondering if a screw to hold it in place has come out and it it knocking the carriage around? Never noticed it being so "free moving" before. Thanks for any help!

    I think I should have said "shuttle" instead of carriage :)...

  • KaylaHope Oct 27, 2008

    Thanks , but I don't think that is it. I've been embroidering for almost 4 years now, and I've never had this problem. The metal arm that has the spring on it is broken. If you have information on what that part is called or a diagram of the inside of my machine (Brother SE270D), I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Your problem is in the threading... too much slack in the thread causes bird nesting on the under side of fabric: re-thread with the pressure foot up... this will ensure thread is between tension disks, therefore eliminating slack, bird nesting and jamming. The security message is your machine stopping to keep you from creating functional problems with the machine. If you bought your machine from a dealer, call them and ask about classes.

    I would take your machine to an authorized dealer. Any good dealer should be able to fix the problem. If you go to brother's website www.brother-usa.com there should be a dealer locater . I would not try to fix the machine this could null your warranty.

This can happen, click back to tools option check whether hoops selection is correct. If this is not the problem, off your machine then put on again. If message remain pull out the embroidery carriage & push in again. Hope it can work.
In jam situation, just exit from your embroidery option, fix the jam by moving the embroidery carriage, work on a different design and see if it work. Sometime a design may not work fully.

Elna 8600 - Carriage will not move backward or forward only left and right when I try to embroider

This could be a loose connection on the circuit board or it may be a bad board, either way it should go to a tech for repair.

My Janome 10000 stopped in middle of embroidering a design and the machine rebooted. it was making a bit of a whining sound as it was stitching just at the last..but now the hand wheel seems harder to...

Janmore10000 Stopped Embroidering thenstopped everything just shutting off.
If it is getting no power at all, it is probably a fuse. Thefuse is located in a little black box underneath the base of the machine, butit is NOT an easy job to take the box out, disassemble it, replace the fuse,and then reassemble the whole machine. But in your comment you mentioned that there is power tothe machine that means its not fuse problem.

It stopped embroidering in the middle of a project. the handwheel would notmove at all this means that it wasthread jam. Also check the carriage carriage if it does not move to the rightor left and gor stuck in one position or hardly moving a bit then it is out of calibration.

if your machine is outof calibration it will need to recaliberate . Something is like forcing theneedle through a thread jam would cause this. This is not an expensive repair.But a time consuming repair. Its advisable to get it done by service center,

Lower thread keeps jamming in bobbin compartment - urrgggg

Take the bobbin carriage out and clean it really good. Use the little brush that comes with your machine and brush everything. When m y machine jams up like that it usually means there is lint or thread caught in the bobbin carriage.

Stepping motor error on embroidery machine

Hi again and welcome back to FixYa.

It is nice of you to remember. To your concern, possibilities are:
  • if the grinding noise is coming from the bobbin case area, then pls ensure that nothing is stuck/caught there, it would only take a small foreign object to trigger the problem; or
  • verify that the embroidery carriage in its parked/original position;
  • there would be a sensor/switch that tells the computer that the embroidery carriage is back. Pls check that if the carriage is back and see if you can check the sensor/switch;
  • worst case scenario is that the controller's circuit board is faulty. In some case, it could just be the wires or connection leading to the controller board.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa again. Happy Holidays.

Turn off the machine, remove the carriage, check that nothing is hitting against the arm and try again.

Loud chirping noises indicate a need for lubrication or something is rubbing against your carriage.
