Flash CS3 Dissappears when website in Dreamweaver CS3 opens in browser

I have inserted a Flash (.swf) file into a Dreamweaver built page. The animation works when the page is tested. It also works fine when tested in a the browser (IE). It will work when the web page is opened from the server, but when it is opened in IE away from the server, the Flash disappears and the page becomes jumbled due to the absence of the Flash.

This may be happening because of some security settings. do you see a yellow bar at the top of your internet explorer window asking you to allow active x content on the page? click on allow. In dreamweaver, you can also try command > insert mark of the web so that you can preview locally

FLV to SWF converter for mac, convert Flash FLV to SWF on mac

PartI. Difference between FLV and SWF
PartII. How to play FLV and SWF on mac
PartIII. How to convert FLV to SWF on mac

PartI. FLV VS. SWF

What is FLV?

FLV files (Flash Video Files), a binary file format, are composed of a video bit stream and an audio bit stream and deliver web video over the Internet with Macromedia Flash Player. FLV files are considered to be streaming video files. If you put FLV file in website, you don't have to download the entire file before playing. FLV content may also be embedded within SWF files. The audio and video data within FLV files are encoded in the same way as they are within SWF files. Unlike SWF format, FLV do not have maximum of 16000 frames limitation and ideally for large video file size. Notable users of the FLV format files are YouTube, Yahoo video, Google Video, Reuters.com, My Space, Facebook video etc.

What is SWF?

SWF (Shockwave Flash)- The file format SWF is a vector graphics file format, not streaming media. SWF file can be played directly in web browser, such as Internet Explorer. However, FLV file can not be playback directly, because it requires a separate SWF file which reads the video content from FLV. The SWF file that plays FLV file is called online flash player. Intended to be small enough for publication on the web, SWF files can contain animations or applets of varying degrees of interactivity and function.

PartII. How to play FLV and SWF on your mac

FLV and SWF are currently very popular over the Internet. When you have downloaded many cartoon movie files which are in SWF file format from Internet or downloaded a video from video sharing website like Youtube to your Mac, you must want to play them in the formats of FLV and SWF. However the default Player on Mac, QuickTime Player, can't playback them. Luckily, the problem will be fixed when you use SWF&FLV Player.

SWF&FLV Player, which is based on the standard Adobe Flash player for Mac OS X, SWF & FLV Player by Eltima Software offers advanced and unique features that allow you to play, rewind, fast-forward and preview SWF and FLV files frame-by-frame, and also create and manage playlists, zoom movies in and out, fit to current window size or restore to original one, set playback quality, control Flash security, check SWF file’s comprehensive information and lots more.

PartIII. How to convert FLV to SWF on mac

Want to publish your website and insert a SWF file into it, right? Use Flash 8.0 to create an embedded SWF with for your web site, however, you will find that the created SWF file goes out of sync in video and audio. How to solve this problem?

A workaround is FLV to SWF converter for mac which is a special flash creator. Mac FLV to SWF converter can convert FLV to SWF as simple as a piece of cake, without any actionscript and programming. Mac FLV to SWF converter empowers you to embed your SWF in a HTML web page during flv to swf conversion.

I want to add a song to web page with control and its asking for plugin? how do I make this song work on web page using dreamweaver?

When you embed sound in a webpage, the person viewing that sound has to have the right program to play it. Some audio files require a player plugin in order for this to work. If you are just trying to include a normal website sound file such as a wav file, the browser will know what to do. Also works for avi files. You can't put a song from a cd onto a webpage. You have to upload the song to your server, then you simply use the href or embed tag in your html code to make it play.

Dreamweaver CS3

Import Microsoft Office documents (Windows only) You can insert the full contents of a Microsoft Word or Excel document in a new or existing web page. When you import a Word or Excel document, Dreamweaver receives the converted HTML and inserts it into your web page. The file’s size, after Dreamweaver receives the converted HTML, must be less than 300K.
Instead of importing the entire contents of a file, you can also paste portions of a Word document and preserve the formatting.
Note: If you use Microsoft Office 97, you cannot import the contents of a Word or Excel document; you must insert a link to the document.
  1. Open the web page into which you want to insert the Word or Excel document.
  2. In Design view, do one of the following to select the file:
    • Drag the file from its current location to the page where you want the content to appear.
    • Select File > Import > Word Document or File > Import > Excel Document.
  3. In the Insert Document dialog box, browse to the file you want to add, select any of the formatting options from the Formatting pop-up menu at the bottom of the dialog box, and then click Open. Text Only Inserts unformatted text. If the original text is formatted, all formatting will be removed.
Text With Structure Inserts text that retains structure, but does not retain basic formatting. For example, you can paste text and retain the structure of paragraphs, lists, and tables, without retaining bold, italics, and other formatting.
Text With Structure Plus Basic Formatting Inserts both structured and simple HTML-formatted text (e.g., paragraphs and tables, as well as text formatted with the b, i, u, strong, em, hr, abbr, or acronym tag).
Text With Structure Plus Full Formatting Inserts text that retains all structure, HTML formatting, and CSS styles.
Clean Up Word Paragraph Spacing Eliminates extra space between paragraphs when you paste your text if you selected Text With Structure or Basic Formatting. The contents of the Word or Excel document appear in your page.
