My dell dimension 3000 makes cracking sounds when i play music

Check your speakers first. Plug the cable from your speakers into a cell phone, ipod or some other music device that has headphone port. If the speakers are crackling then, then you know it's the speakers. If not, then it's a computer issue in which case you might want to contact Dell.

Good luck!

Getting a cracking noise through the speakers

Sounds like the speakers are cracked (no pun intended) - damaged cones. Connect external speakers or connect a headphone to the headphone jack to see if you get the same sound. If not, then the speakers themselves are damaged.

Speakers crack and volume decreases. Wiggling the speaker wire where it plugs into the computer causes additional cracking noise.

Try to identify if all the speakers cracking sounds comes when wiggling the cable that connects them with the pc. In that case the easiest way is to replace this cable with a new one, like this.
If the problem isn't only at the cable post back.
Also in any case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

Volvo s.40 with HU605 audio unit. all works ok on console but only weak tinny audio from facia speakers, none from rear and door speakers. opne 8 way din socket on rear of unit got no plug in it.

Hello mireilledwar,

It sounds like the amplifier in the receiver is faulty. The sound you are getting sounds like just the highest frequencies reproduced by the tweeters. Lower frequencies reproduced by the woofers generally require more power output to drive the bigger speakers. There are two connectors on the back of the unit. Unless you have the optional CD changer, only one is used.

Hope this helps.

Can't get headphone jack on front of computer to work

The headphone jack up front may not be connected to the PC's integrated audio on the motherboard (or to the PC's sound card if you purchased one with the system instead. There'll be an audio cable running from the front of the computer to a port on the motherboard. If you look at this motherboard diagram for the Vostro 220 (not the 420 or 220s), it'll be the port numbered "15" that's the opne for the audio for the front panel. You don't need the speakers plugged on the back to have the headphones work, but having them plugged in will at least tell you if the sound is working or not.

Distorted sound after installing software plus GigaPocket issues

Have you physically disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS? By doing this I think most of your other hardware/software would default to the only audio device (your SB).

Post back if you've already done this and I'll see what else I can dig up on your hardware and possible conflicts.
