If there's no water entering your dishwasher, check these:

Water-inlet valve
Float switch
Water-inlet valve Thewater-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. If this valve isdefective, you need to completely replace it. It's usually locatedbehind the lower access panel on the left or right side. It's thedevice with the main water line (usually copper) from the house, arubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it.

Float switch Thefloat switch is a small electrical switch that's located right belowthe dishwasher "floor." Above the switch, on the inside of thedishwasher, is a plastic cylinder that floats up as water fills thedishwasher. If this switch is defective, or if the plastic float getscaught or trapped in the raised position, the water can't enter thedishwasher. If the float switch is defective, you need to replace it.

Water fills the bottom of dishwasher, lower spray arm still seems to turn/spray but no movement or water coming out of uppoer spray arm. We took apart the lines to see if there was blockage -- none.

If there is no blockage, your pump may need to be rebuilt or replaced. If your machine uses a solenoid valve to control weather the pump is washing or draining. The drain valve may be stuck somewhat open, diverting wash water down the drain. Or the wash valve may be not opening fully. Different machines work in different ways.

My Optima D830 Dishwasher will not fill with water

most likely by tilting the dishwasher you have affected the water softener unit. This could be the cause of the froth. The salt has got mixed with the water inlet system.
The only solution I can suggest is to call the technician and recharge the softener unit.

I'm not sure how mildew can grow in a dishwasher that is working well, but after cleaning it and putting things back together, it does now seem to be working. I thought that the water wasn't filling but I guess the heating element heats up before the water fills the dishwasher. So when I tried again and started the dishwasher from the beginning and waited, it did progress to filling water and going through the whole cycle.

Dishwasher wan't fill with water

The water valve may look fine but the solenoid may not be opening to allow water in. You said that everything else works fine except no water supply to the dishwasher. This sounds like a bad soleniod valve. Check for continuity on the valve with an ohms meter after you start it. Be careful.

Water is not filling into dishwasher. Everything sounds like it is running ok and water supply is on.

Go to the back of the machine, where the main water inlet connects. The connection there is the inlet valve that should open when you switch the machine on. Usually you have to remove the machine outer casing to get to the valve. The valves are quite cheap. Cheers, Derek.

Hobart LX 18 problem

You are having a problem with the fill valve. If the unit fills AT ALL, with the power off, the fill valve is the issue.

It is a gold color valve behind the front kick panel. It has a large castle-like cap. Sometimes debris is the cause of your failure. (50/50). Turn off the water, and just take it apart slowly and pay attention to the plunger and spring. Take out the diaphram and screen, and clean it. There should be just one small hole in the diaphram. If cleaning doesn't help, you need to buy a rebuild kit. If you get the "ML" off the data plate, I can get you the kit P/N.

good luck

Soap left in cups when cycle is over

If the problem is that the dishwasher isn't filling with enough water, you should replace the water valve.

If it's getting enough water, but dishes have a white film on them or are still not getting clean, you may have hard water build up in your machine. Try to run a dishwasher cleaner thru it, or depending on how much buildup you have, you may need to take the dishwasher apart and clean it. I know JetDry puts a cleaner out, but I haven't personally tried it yet.

You can usually see white buildup inside the dishwasher if this is your problem.
