GMT 115-5B wont ignite

I have a 4yr old GMT 115-5b unit that wont ignite. Fan comes on, gas flows and then it shuts down because it isnt igniting. Then it cycles again and does the same thing over and over. I have done the reset process as described on the cover, to turn the switch to off, wait 5 min and then turn it back to on.

Couple things without more info is little hard,,,first not familliar with this paticular model but I believe it has a glo igniter,,which will be located next to the burners,,should be one or two scres holding it in,if this is not glowing than u need to pulll it out and look for a crack in it if its cracked u need to replace. If this is electronic ignition will have a metal spark ignition,,the glow ignitor will be ceramic by the way,,also if u pull out the glow ignitor do not touch the element with your hands while inspecting or replacing for the oil on your hands will cause it to fail sooner. sorry back to the metal spark ignition if it is not sparking than chances are u have a problem with the combustion fan motor shutting down the gas valve before it lights. I just posted on a goodman about the fan motor and the two types and how to fix. good luck.

System wont ignite. chgd filter & batteries in thermostat

Does the igniter get hot? If it does, then there is a problem with the gas control, that is, the gas won't come on for some reason. Generally, the gas won't come on if the igniter fails (for safety reasons), so are you sure there is gas flowing? You would hear the cycle start, that is the lighter, and even air flow, but if the gas doesn't come on during that time, the system shuts down in a few seconds.

Why wont my old grill work with new propane tank

Turn off propane. Disconnect propane tank from barbecue. Open burner valves for about 20 seconds. Close valves. Reattach propane tank. Slowly open propane tank valve. Turn on burner and ignite

Main burners in my old utility gas heater will not ignite

A common problem with these are the safety limit switch trips, either because the fan did not come on and over heated the unit, or the unit got shut off while in heat mode, causing the switch to trip. These are usually located around the top/side of the unit heater behind a small access panel. It should be resettable by pushing in the small button in between the two connections. Hope this helps!

Rinnai gas log heater (royale) keeps cutting out. now it wont stay on at all. the ignition is fine, the gas flow seems fine and the fan works fine. we vacuum the dust out regularly

When you say "it won't stay on at all." Do you mean the burner and the pilot flame shut off together or does the pilot remain lit? Is the unit showing any Fault Codes on the LCD display?

Rheem digital gas pool heater fan code

The Fan code would indicate a problem with the combustion air blower. The is a pressure switch to indicate there is sufficent combustion air, and if not then unit shuts down. Either the fan isn't running, or there is an obsturction in the fan or exhaust piping, preventing enough air flow.
cfh would be call for heat, which would be a normal display when water temp is below setpoint
See the link below for a manual. Once you open the page look on lower right side for documents, then install manual

I have a 15 year old Goodman GMP075-3. The unit will not remain on more than 10 seconds. The igniter is new, the flame sensor has been cleaned with steel wool, I checked and re-seeded all wire...

since your getting ignition it sounds like it is shutting off due to airflow
you may want to drop the fan and check the coils above it
and the coils in the pelum with out proer air flow these units shut down at 180 degrees will cycle when cooled again
since your getting ignition your inducer seems to be fine

Blower turns on when stat calls for heat but manifold is not being ignited (do not hear gas valve even trying to release gas). No spark either. Could it be insufficent gas pressure?

Here is the ignition sequence for a spark ignited furnace. This will help you understand what is happening/not happening.

Thermostat calls for heat.

draft inducer motor (DIM) starts drawing draft through heat exchanger.

Pressure switch detects proper operation of DIM, and sends signal to board to begin ignition.
(it detects negative pressure)

Ignitor starts ignition attempt and gas valve sends gas to burners.

Upon ignition, flame sensor detects flame and sends signal to board stopping ignition sequence and continuing gas flow for heat mode operation until thermostat is satisfied.

During this sequence the blower motor is brought on, and by using a series of temperature limit switches, the system assures that the unit is operating properly.
(If the blower is not operating, or the airflow is inadequate, the heat exchanger will overheat and trip one or more temp limit switches.)

There is also a "rollout" switch that detects improper flame pattern "rolling out" into the controls compartment.

Now, to apply that to your situation.

If you have no spark, than the failure is happening before the gas is supposed to be flowing.

That usually means a failure at the D.I.M. Typical causes for that are a clogged flue pipe/vent, damaged/deteriorated fan blades, bad fan, or bad pressure switch.

If one of the temp limit switches or rollout switches have tripped, it will simply shut off the system.
(Some units will turn on the blower motor and shut down everything else.)

You can try resetting the unit by disconnecting power for 1 minute, and attempting a restart.

First look for any flashing LED lights. If you see any locate the wiring schematic (usually on the inside of the front panel) and look for the flash codes.

If the reset does not solve the problem, let me know what flash code you are getting, and/or let me know exactly what you see the furnace doing, in detail, after the restart.

No flame on left side/main valve. Right side lights, flames up

Try taking out the orifice on the burner that is not lighting and make sure it isn't blocked.
