SOURCE: my keyboard is not working

ok, if u have installed any RAM or BIOS battery now is the time to tell me, or if what i just said made no sense then ur keyboard either has something spilt on it or its ribbon connection to the motherboard or daughterboard (depending in the laptop) is loose. about $25 down at a IT repair shop will fix that. if u want further explanation reply here,

SOURCE: keyboard on lab top

Hi again, Steven,

It sounds like the "film" under your keys may have been the victim of a rainy day :-)
- Or just worn out, it’s only a thin film, and if you use the keyboard like an old typewriter, then :-)
If you are not familiar with how to take your laptop apart, I´d suggest that you have someone to put in a new film for your keyboard.
It will typical cost you one hour plus the film, about $20.

Regards
Teis

Why is my keyboard typing everything twice

Check your Keyboard Properties. See this... http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Notebook-PC-Questions/Suddenly-my-keyboard-is-typing-every-letter-twice/td-p/1377185
If this doesn't help, you may have to take it in for service. Just don't pay more than it's worth.

When I type the letter "s" I get the save file window. When I type the letter "p" I get the print window.

This means that your "Ctrl"button at your keyboard is pressed down. Take a look for something that is keeping either of the 2 Ctrl buttons pressed. Otherwise it's a keyboard's problem. Shut down the notebook and check the buttons for proper mechanical movement of the keys.

Sounds like a loose wire that converts the letters you type to the letter typed on the screen.....i would suggest just buying a new keyboard

Keyboard typing extra letters >.<

Sounds like the windows key is stuck down, pressing start+r opens run, start+e opens explorer etc. The start key being the one between control and alt.

HP Compaq NX960 Laptop Keyboard Problem

This is generally a sensitivity issue with the keyboard. It's usually caused when the rubber depressors that activate each key start getting worn. Sometimes you can take each key off individually, take off the rubber depressor and clean the contact point on the keyboard and up inside the depressor where it makes contact. Clean it with with rubbing alcohol and Q-tips. This is alot of work and only fixes the problem about 60% of the time. Your only other option is replacing the keyboard.
