SOURCE: removing watch links

Look at both ends of the pin. One will look smooth, the other appears split.
You will need a suitable soft (wooden) support, and a very small dia. punch and a light hammer. The rest of the watch can be protected with a soft cloth.
You place the punch on the end of the pin which looks split, after arranging the watch so the link you are driving the pin from is supported on the edge of the timber. I drill a hole close to the edge of the timber over which I place the pin to be removed. Then by gently tapping the punch with the hammer, the pin should slide down into the hole.
One pin needs to be removed completely, the other can be left in the next link ready to tap back in after the link you wish out is removed.
The important thing is to have a decent punch! The diameter must be such as to fit easily through the pin holes, and the end should be flat. If you cannot make or find a suitable punch, one could be made from something like a darning needle.

SOURCE: remove links from fossil metal band

You may have arrows inside bracelet.Arrows are pointing the way the pins must come out.
First you have to find out what sort of pins or even screws are used to keep links together.
Examine both bracelet sides and find the side where pin ends have a groove.
Start with a tiny screwdriver and start to unscrew one of the screws. If it turns, but doesn't come out, that means you have a pins instead.
For removing pins the best would be pin removing tool (approx.5GBP on ebay), but it's possible to do the job without it.
Take a hardened steel needle and blunt the sharp end to the approx. size of pin end diameter using any sharpening stone or sandpaper. Get an old towel and fold it to make a soft base for work (like small cusion). As you don't have a special bracelet holder you will need a pair of helping hands to hold the bracelet steady upright. You will need small hammer and pair of flat nose pliers as well.
NOTE: The pins MUST be driven split end out first, not vice versa. Make sure that the grooved pin ends are facing towel, not the needle and hammer!!!
Now place the watch on the folded towel, take that needle and smallest hammer you have and start driving the pin out using light blows. Do Not hit hard, as you will brake the needle, scratch your watch or even injure yourself. Watchmakers are using 45 gram hammer, so, calculate your strength of blows.
After a few blows check if the split end is coming out and when you see that the end is long enough to grab it with pliers, pull the pin out with pliers. When pulling, do NOT turn pliers, as pins tend to brake when twisted. Use firm grip and your strength to pull the pin without twisting.
After shortening the bracelet, make sure that the pins go back EXACTLY the same way as they came out- the blunt end first in the hole and the split (grooved) end last. Before doing that check remaining pins in bracelet to make sure that you put them back from the right side of bracelet.
It is recommended to use plastic hammer to drive pins back in or you will scratch or damage bracelet. If plastic hammer is not available use an old toothbrush handle (or some plastic item) as an absorber. Simply put pin into the hole as deep as you can with your fingers, put the toothbrush handle on split pin end and hit handle, not the pin.
Make sure that pin ends are flush with bracelet. If needed- hit few more times.
Job done!
Don't forget to rate, please.

SOURCE: How do you adjust the watch band(remove the links)

This may seem simple to do but it is literally a ***** of a task. Best to where amplifying glasses and use a ball point pen, not a pin or pencil. Push one side of the pin in while keeping a slight outward pressure on the band. When it releases be care full not to let it fly off into the void(which they can) and then move to where you need the band to be and reinstall using a single edge razor blade. Just carefully align the opposite side (assuming youve alredy put one end in)place the razor blade on center and slide the remaining pin into the hole area pull the blade out slowly and listen for it to click into place.

How do I shorten ******** my Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch?

Take a look at the watch from the side where the band attaches to the buckle. You should see four holes with one of them having a visible pin in it where the band is connected to the buckle. Moving the band to the right will shorten it moving it to the left will make it bigger. To move it simply get something that you can push the pin in with like a paper clip. Push the pin in and the band should come out move it to the left and push the in again and simply move the band into proper position. Once you do that the pin will snap back into place. If that does not adjust it enough go to your local watch store and they can remove links from the bracelet for you. Shouldn't cost you more than $10.

Shorten the length of a Kenneth Cole "New York" watch band

With the watch on your wrist, check to see how many links need to be removed from your watch. Your watch should fit comfortably on your wrist. Remove the extra links with your paper clip or push pin.To remove the links from your watch, press on the small pins with your tool that are holding the links in place. The watch band should now separate allowing the pin to become free, and you can now remove the pins first and then the links one at a time until you have removed the desired amount of links. Reattach the watch band when you are done removing the links. To reattach the watch band to your watch, simply fit the end links into each other. To complete the resizing, use your push pin to re-insert a joining pin.

Can you please tell me how to remove links on my le cheatau ceramic watch?

Hi, sizing the bracelet on your ceramic watch may void its warranty, making it ineligible to receive service from the manufacturer. If you want to keep your watch covered under warranty, contact your watch manufacturer for information on their customer repair service.
If you want to remove it yourself, you need a watch pin removal tool. You can use a watch pin removal tool to remove the link pins that secure the clasp pieces to your ceramic watch band.

But if you don't have a watch pin removal, follow the instruction below........
  • Find a clean, flat, well-lit work surface where you can size the bracelet of your ceramic watch. For best results, spread a soft optical cloth over your work surface and perform your repair on top of the cloth. The cloth will help prevent you from losing any small watch components, like link pins, that may be freed during repair.
  • Wrap the ceramic watch band around your wrist and count how many links overlap. Use this as a guideline for how many links should be removed. Note that the actual number of links to be removed may differ slightly from the original estimate. Remove excess links from your watch band one at a time to make sure that you don't end up accidentally making the band too short.
  • Remove the excess watch links from the ends of the band with the attached clasp pieces. Look between the removable ceramic watch links to locate the silicone connector pieces that join the links. Use a pair of small, pointed scissors to make a cut between the link and the silicone connector, this will free the excess links. Cut on the side of the link that faces the watch clasp. Repeat the process on the other side of the ceramic watch band.
  • Remove the clasp pieces from the ends of the removed watch links. Examine the clasp pieces to look for the metal pins that hold them in place. Push out the metal pins with a push pin to free the clasp pieces. You can now reattach them to the ends of your ceramic watch band.
  • Examine the newly-shortened ends of your ceramic watch band. Without the clasp in place the silicone connector pieces will be exposed. Note the two small puncture holes that go straight through the silicone connector. Insert the teeth of one of the clasp pieces through the holes in the silicone connector from the bottom. Fold over the other side of the clasp piece, reinsert the metal link pin and push the clasp to click it into place. Attach the second clasp piece to the other side of the watch band using the same procedure.

I need instructions on removing links from a Fossil Stella watch

you will need some sort of tool for a pin pusher to actually remove the pin from watch . It can be a strong needle of some sorts but I suggest getting an actual pin pusher to prevent from damaging the watch or hurting yourself.

if you look inside the watch band itself you will see on the links an arrow pointing one direction. That is the direction you need to push the pin since the pin head is larger and cannot be pushed the opposite direction .

On the side of the watch links you will see a small circle endented with a pin head. That is the link pin. Place your pin pusher or other similar sized object and with a small or jeweler hammer slowly and lightly hit the pin pusher down until pin comes out of opposite side , you can use tweezers or needle nose pliers to pull pin all the way out

There are some pin removers that screw also or just push down to pop pin .

Once out repeat process until you have removed enough links that watch fits comfortably. Then slide pins with head of pin entering the side where the arrow on back of link is pointing to. Once all the way in gently hammer rest of pin till flush with link .

How do I adjust the length of the bracelet (watch band) for a Casio EF106D-2AV bracelet watch?

  • Select a clean, flat work surface where you can perform your watch band adjustment. Put down a piece of felt to protect the face of your Casio. Turn on a lamp near your workspace to better illuminate the watch components with which you will be working.
  • Lay your Casio face down on the protective felt. Look for the small arrows on the back of some of the watch links; these arrows indicate the removable watch links and the direction their pins should be removed.
  • Locate the pin hole above the arrow on the removable watch links. Insert the tip of a watch pin removal tool, or push pin, into the pin hole. Apply pressure to the link pin, in the direction indicated by the arrow, to free the pin and remove the link. A pair of needle-nose watch or jewelry pliers can be used to help pull out stubborn link pins. Remove as many links as necessary for your watch to fit perfectly.
  • Reserve the links and link pins that you remove from your Casio Edifice watch. Store the removed watch components in a small, clear, plastic zipper bag. These components can be used when repairing or expanding your Casio watch band.
  • WARNING:Casio recommends that customers have their watch bands sized by an authorized Casio watch dealer. Sizing the band of your Casio Edifice yourself may void the manufacturer's warranty on your watch. Contact Casio customer support for more warranty information.

I recently received a Tag Heuer Link Calbre 5 Automatic watch as a gift. However, it needs 1-2 links removed. I took it to a local jeweler and they said it can't be sized because it they weren't ablwe to...

Here is how its done. First remove one end of the clasp (this is much easier on the adjustment side - just depress the pin and remove). Now you can separate the two halves of the first link (actually this is a half-link). Simply grab each half and pull. You may have to do some twisting - do it carefully so that you don't bend the pin. You may have to do some prying - if so, you can use a thin piece of plastic so you don't scratch the link and only pry along the pin so that you don't bend it. Once removed, you can now remove the first full link. Remove it in the same way. Now replace the end half-link and re-attach the clasp. Removing a link from the other side is a little more difficult. The clasp lock is held on with a long pin (slot on one end and screw on the other. One must be held in place while you turn the other. You may need another pair of hands to help you.
If you feel uncomfortable about any of the above, take it to a jeweler - a Tag AD is not necessary but probably best although any jeweler can remove a link if they understand how they are put together. Tell them the link is composed of a right and left half that snap together and they should then see and understand what they need to do.

Is there any way to adjust the band without a special tool?

Use a sturdy pin or thumbtack to push out the pin from the little hole on the link.
Make sure to examine the watch and which links have pins. Some watches are designed to have a row of removable links with pins.
Remove one end of the band from the actual watch itself. Then remove links as you see necessary.
You may need to use something a little stout like a butterknife to tap the pins out from the links.
The pin on the watch itself has spring loaded tips, push them in and it should release the watch from the band.
