Take the post (power on self test )by shorting active low signal to ground If you checked dc at primary filter (big capacitors) and present then check that is appears at collecter of transistor if not then one 2 watt resistance is faulty replace it and check switching function if working then meter shows infinite reading like 1.0.0.0. if working then check output if not
then check secondary rectifiers that diodes look like transistor and have alluminium heat sink if short replace it

My fuse blew in my Samsung 53" Plasma TV. I changed it, but it's blown again? What should I do next?

The fuse blown because theres a short circuit connection in the PCB power supply of your television. Please check the power supply inside, remove the back cover to see the power supply section.unplug first to avoid electric shock. Will you check the bridge type diode first. If the bridge type diode or diodes is shorted the fuse is always blown.Using digital tester check diodes, regulator transistor, and other transistor around the power supply.

If you have a digital tester or analog try to check the voltage reading from the power supply if high or low or no supply.Check first following voltage location and section. * Check the AC voltage from ac cord to fuse and before the bridge type diode. * Check the DC voltage after the bridge type diode.if normal voltage. * Then check the voltage into the filter capacitor to regulator ic.the power ic.If theres a input voltage in the power ic,check the output voltage going to harizontal output. If no output the problem is you power output. You need to replace it.

After I put a fuse in the player, and plug into wall, the fuse immediately blows.

Hi,
Your fuse blown again because you have a short on the circuit. You may visit my link http://www.fixya.com/support/r8053361-fuse_keeps_blowing for more info.
I've suspect that you have short on rectifier diode/main filter capacitor/regulator IC/transistor. This is quite fixable.
Hope it may help you.
Thanks for using fixya.

I am facing a problem with my SMPS. When I press the power button, the LED, SMPS fan and processor fan turns on for a moment then goes OFF. I looked at SMPS PCB and found tht big capacitors had a chemical...

YES !!! As they have leaked their dielectric chemicals and are faulty. Replace them..And Replace both caps if a half wave rectifier bridge is what you have...And all 4 if you have a full wave rectifier bridge. ( 2 power diodes is a half wave Rect. and 4 pwr diodes is a full wave bridge. And 1 capacitor is used for each power diode... As a rule, locate the leaker and replace it AND the 1 that is closest to it that is EXACYLY the same as it is...Mfd rating, shape and size will be the exact same... Either 2 or 4 will be present...Depending on the 1/2 or full wave bridge...

I have a 1999 RCA TV model # P52921. It completely shut down. It has no sound and picture. I checked the fuse with my tester and there is power coming out of the fuse. I hear a slight, faint, pulsating...

Check SMPS power supply. DC voltages. First check the power supply
bridge/ diodes. Then check DC votage should be 70% rating of the
capacitor voltage. If the capacitor is dry it will show low voltage.

But the diodes should be OK. Check the high wattage resistors
connected in the power supply. There will be a resistor in the
ac input also. Beyond this check all +DC voltages.

I had a near lighting strike that took out the cable and the tv

You have to check the DC voltages. First check across the high voltage electrolyte capacitor to know whether you are getting DC. Check the capacitor DC rating and you should get the the voltage less than the rating by 30% less.

If no DC present check the diodes or Diode bridge. If these are OK check the SMPS circuit components.

Dead Set after power surge

Check the power supply transformer primary driver transistor and the associated components (some diodes and capacitors, resistors, an optocoupler maybe) and the rectifier diodes (or a bridge) and capacitors at the transformer secondary, what you are looking for is a short circuit, however, the short may as well be in another section of the circuit board (a shorted component may sometimes have signs of damage caused by heat, but this is not a rule).

Hope you can find out what it is...

Check for bad caps or diodes. Look for anything discolored or burned.
