MSN Messenger NULL message problem

I am using Windows XP home edition on my computer. I downloaded a firewall and had to restore my system in order to be able to connect to the internet. When I called my service provider she had me install Internet Explorer 7. When I tried to log on to Yahoo Messenger I received the following error message in the top of the blue box it says pyavore.search.searchdectection. Inside the blue box it says
I can log into Yahoo but I can't do anything because of this error message. I have to close it out or it will send a report. I followed the expert advice I got and now it's working properly HOWEVER, MSN LIVE MESSENGER is giving me the same problem!! I ran Malwarebytes and uninstalled MSN Messenger. I tried to install an early version of MSN Messenger but after I install it as directed it MAKES me download a new version and when the downloaded new version finishes I am back to the beginning with the same problem. Can you help again, please? Thanks so very much!

Try first reinstalling MSN , and see if this fix the problem.

Try first reinstalling both messengers, the situation is quite unusual, I see if that can be related to any known malaware.

    See latest version below:

The MSN Messenger v7.0 is now MSN Messenger v7.5 and the Yahoo Messenger v7.0 BETA is now Yahoo Messenger with Voice.

I did not find anything regarding similar problems, probably it had ben caused by a malaware.

Here is one of the most powerful antispyware, try downloading and running a full scan after installation.
The scan will take over one hour, download from following website:

    Softpedia Mirror (US) [EXE]

    Softpedia Mirror (RO) [EXE]

My dell laptop needs firewall

Dell now ships all computers ordered through Home and Home Office with software firewalls installed and enabled.

If you have an older Dell PC that did not originally come with a firewall program and you have not already added a separate firewall program to your PC, you will need to purchase a firewall product.

If you are using Windows XP operating system, you can use its built-in firewall called Internet Connection Firewall or Windows Firewall.

If you need any kind of technical assistance to install firewall ,you can contact support cell at http://www.vtechsquad.com/

My windows xp home edition has crashed and i have no recovery cd

Find a friend with either a "retail" Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM disk,
or with an 'OEM' ("original equipment manufacturer") equivalent.

Use that disk, plus the 25-character product-key on the label on the side of your computer,
to reinstall Windows, or first to try to "repair" your installed copy of Windows.

Or, if you have a "brand-name" computer (Dell, HP, IBM, Lenovo, Acer, Gateway, eMachines)
telephone the manufacturer, and order a replacement "System Restore" set of CD-ROM disks.
Probably about $20, plus $20 for overnight-courier.

I am having trouble downloading some new virus software (McAfee). I have bought a new product from them and and trying to download it direct from the website. I have turned off Firewall, pop-up blocker etc...

Hi,
I believe that there is an old anti virus on your system so you need to follow this...
1. Download the Norton Removal Tool, to your desktop (do NOT Run it yet.)
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...3108162039
2. Disconnect from the internet and close all programs, and REBOOT.
3. Uninstall Norton with Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs.
4. IMMEDIATELY enable the Windows Firewall!
5. Double-click on the file you saved in #1 above to run the utility. Do
NOT touch your keyboard until the run has completed, then REBOOT (again).
6. Install better antivirus, such as Eset's NOD32, Kaspersky or Avast!

FREE Home Edition Avast! antivirus - anti-spyware protection
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-free...yware.html

You mentioned you were using XP Home edition. What Service Pack? SP3?

You did not mention HOW you connect to the internet? dialup?

Is your computer part of a local network?

Important: Download MBAM, update, and run the FULL scan:
FREE Malwarebytes anti-malware
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

There is some excellent information here:

HTH. (Hope This Helps. :)

Cannot connect to the internet following activation of XP

did you activate the Windows Xp when you installed the XP Operating system?
you have 30 days to activate the XP, if not you will have limited use till you input the genuine serial key.
if the display changed after the activation, chance are you machine have being hijacked.
I would just take it off line and try to clean the infection.

Broadband connection issue w/ XP SP2

Upgrade the computer to SP2 and then check the firewall settings after the upgrade. Turn off the firewall and see if you can connect then. I you still have a problem I would check the computer for viruses with a free online virus checker or with Trinity Rescue CD.
