Question about HP Mini 1000 Netbook
Not long ago, my netbook decided (on its own) that it would only run on while plugged in. The battery will take and hold a charge. The control panel even indicates the charge when it is running. However, you unplug the cord and the computer immediately turns off. It doesn't go through the shutdown process...it just turns off like you flipped the switch. I have no clue how to fix this and am desperate to get this thing fixed as I need it to work on my dissertation. PLEASE help if you can. I don't think replacing the battery will fix anything since it does recognize it and charges it appropriately. I am, however, replacing the power cord because if you turn it a certain way, it will let the computer turn off. My 18 month old pulled

I noticed you were talking about over heating issues. Does the mouse issue happen when the computer is on for a period time?
I know with some laptops there is software for the "gadgets" on the mouse pad. If you have software related to it.. try reinstalling.
I am getting mixed thoughts of what you maybe talking about... please explain.

SOURCE: HP zv6000 battery problem
I am having the same problem when the power cord is plugged directly to the computer - power light flashes - once battery is dead so is the computer. I have a docking station that plugs into the big port on the right side - that still works and does charge the battery. The thing that sucks is once the battery dies - I am back to the docking station. At least you could use the computer as a "Desktop" before shelling out a grand for another laptop! You can pick up a docking station pretty cheap.

all you really need to do to find out if it might be broken is to check and see if that DC Jack on the computer is "wiggling" around, if the center part is moving around. If it is, then there is a chance that it is broken. I used to work at a computer store where the owner would resolder new DC power Jacks into laptops, but he was the only one in town who did that. So you might want to check around at the local computer repair or electronics stores to see if someone does that type of thing. Also, have the power supply checked out, it could just be dead.

I would say that is most likley the motherboard not the power supply and this is a pretty big job you would have to take the laptop apart if the laptop is under warrenty I would use it otherwise you would most likley be better off getting another computer unless you are very good at taking computers apart. You can go to HP website support and get repair manual and it will tell you how to take apart.
