How to replace circular saw bearings

If you need to ask how to replace the bearings, you probably don't have the tools or expertise to do the job. Take it to a small tool repair shop and they can do it in a jiffy.

Saw starts but jerks to a stop right away

Sounds like the bearings are wearing out. Is the blade wobbly? Does it squeal like a pig? If so, the bearings are shot. You will be able to replace the bearing on a high dollar saw. If its and off brand or homeowner type, buy a new one.

Wsc255 circular saw makes a whining noise when I start it up when I put the blade onto the wood the blade stops.

Either the motor is shot or the bearings are shot. Or both. You can buy replacement parts on It might be worth your time to just buy a new saw. Look on eBay.

How to gear spindle from housing

The unit is retained by two or three screws surrounding a retaining ring on the saw blade side, and I believe there are some screws holding the gear housing on the motor side that need to be removed as well. I just replaced the bearing on mine a week ago, and even though the situation is obvious once you figure it out I was not smart enough to do so, and wasted an hour trying to figure out how to remove that retaining ring over the bearing. Good luck

Saw stops when i start cutting 1/2 plywood.

If it actually binds and stops the motor...... it sounds like the motor is bad, the bearings are bad, or the blade is on backwards. If the motor keeps spinning, but the blade stops then the gears are bad or the blade bolt is not tight.

Depending on your budget, I suggest replacing the item. It sounds like your bearings are bad, which means tearing apart the case and replacing them (which don't cost much). There are two bearing encasements so you would need to replace both. If you're up for the challenge, give it a try! The bearings can typically be found on the manufacturers website.

I have a Milwaukee circular saw model 6365. It still cuts fine, but it squeals loudly (like a little girl) when running. Sorry, couldn't help myself. Seems like the motor bearing(s) need lubrication. ...

You can try to lube the bushings, but they will always start to squeal again. I have tried just about everything, 2 cycle oil works good, wd-40 is a little thin, blaster works ok for a while, reg 3m oil forget it, motor oil, no, white grease, hard to get in there, axle grease, yes, but you have to take the bushings out. The oils, you don't have to take the saw apart. Hope this helps.

Manual for #103.0205 circ. saw

Earlier comment 103.0205 Table Saws does not need lubrication is simply wrong.

The103.0202, 103.0203, 103.0305 Craftsman Companion Table Saws main Arbor axle DOES have to lubricated or else the axle bearing will quickly loosen side-to-side or vertically and fail to provide accurate saw cuts.

FWIW, Sears no longer sells Arbor Axle replacement parts... The Table Saw Arbor axle and Bearing Housing cannot use sealed bearings unless the saw case is re-milled and extensively modified. There are 2 Oil Hole Plugs (part# 475-32) that need to be opened and oil applied so the Arbor axle shaft does not get scored or worn.

I use 30wt motor oil to relube the Arbor Axle Shaft depending on amount of use, temperature, and axle rotation stiffness.

Remember, the higher the RPM speed of the table saw motor and/or the longer the use, the more frequently you may need to relube the Arbor Axle Bearing!
