Question about HP Computers & Internet
I purchased a hp pavilion dv6-1149wm entertainment pc, it was the store model, I would like to be able to personalize the settings and add a password as well. There already is a password on the laptop so I have not turned it off yet.
I assume by saying there is already a password on the laptop, you're referring to a windows password, when the computer boots start tapping f8, you will be presented with a boot menu including safe mode, start windows normally etc... there should be an option for 'repair your computer' arrow down and hit enter. once windows recovery console loads click next a couple times and then you'll see another menu. the new menu should have a bunch of repair options one of which is restore to factory default. click that and follow the prompts. once it's done you'll have to go in and remove all the bloatware installed by the store.

i dont know if this will work, restart and press f8, enter safemode and you will see 2user option, select which one will make u able to log in, if this successful,
1. system restore: restore your computer on the date before he reset the password
2. open control panel and create new account
the last option is format it and i know you don't want to do that.

Go to hp.com. Click on support and drivers tab. Select "See Support & Troubleshooting Information." Enter your laptop model number. dv6-1245dx. Click on "GO". See: "What Type Of Support Do You Need?" Choose MANUALS. Scroll down the page and select "HP PAVILION DV6 ENTERTAINMENT PC - MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE GUIDE". Download that PDF format. It is relatively easy to get to the ribbon cable that connects the touchpad to the motherboard. It is connected via a ZIF connector. I had a dv1331se and the touchpad stopped working. I just reseated the cable in the connector and all was well. Hope your solution is as easy as mine was. You'll have to remove the trimplate just in front of the keyboard. Be careful with the connectors there. The manual is well laid out and the diagrams easy to follow. Good luck. HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC - Maintenance and Service Guide

Open the audio panel (settings -> control panel -> Sounds and audio devices -> volume). Check that the volume slide is all the way to the right. Also, click on the "speaker volume" button and check it is all the way to the right
