Make sure the trip button on the bottom of the heater is fully depressed when sitting on the floor. This is a safety tip over device. The button on the bootom must be in contact with the floor surface or it will shut off.

I don;t think there is any repair that is possible and you will need to replace your mattress pad. I would recommend you contact sunbeam directly at sunbeam.com and see if this model has a lifetime guarentee.I tried but they wanted to know how old it was and other info that I could not provide.
If you have had this good of service from their product then I would let them know and maybe they will work with you.
I have had good results contacting companies and praising their products and it don't cost much to try. Thank you
