Is the Backlight inverter and the power supply unit in the same board for this tv?

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Computer power supply does not work

Need to know how old a computer it is as over the years the power supplies' use different methods of starting.

On newer computers the power supply is connected to the mother board by a 20 or 22 pin connector. The power button on the computer is just a momentary switch to start the computer. Make sure the large connector is firmly seated in the mother board. If you are comfortable with doing that have someone else check it. You do not want to damage the connector or mother board. You need to have some sort of anti static device conntected to your body to avoid any static discharge that could damage the mother board.

Dead set (no indication lights coming on when I push the power button.

Hi Gwendolyn,

First of all thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.
I'm assuming here that you're TV is a Vizio L32 HDTV.
My initial advice is to ensure that the AC source(outlet) is live. Please plug the unit to a known working outlet, if you are using a surge protector, directly plug the power cord of the TV to the outlet to confirm that the AC source is not the issue here.
If you've confirmed that the AC source is not the problem, then the fault is inside the TV and most likely the power supply. Most of the TV with a dead set symptoms that I've encountered is a power supply issue but of course needs to be confirm.

If your unit is not under warranty period (if so, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free, opening the rear cover will void the warranty), open the back cover, check the internal fuse of the power supply board, this is near where the AC power cord's directly connected. Check its continuity using the multimeter/ohmmeter, if you found it open, replaced it with a new same current rating that is printed on its body itself. Sometimes internal fuse fail due to voltage surge/flactuation, aging, etc, replacing with new one resolve the issue, however if the fuse blow again, this is an indication of more serious problem on the power supply board, it needs to replaced the entire board.
If the fuse is intact, you have to measure the output voltage of it through connector J1 (pin 9,10,11). You should be getting 5 Volts. If there's no voltage at these pin, you're power supply board is dead, replaced the entire board. If the 5 volts is present, replaced the main board.
I've provided you a links for the power supply board and mainboard below.

My KDF-50WE655 will not turn on. No power light, there is power going in to tv.

Hi kevin,

If there's no led light at the front panel of the set, this is an indication that the problem is in the power supply board (G1 board), I'm assuming that you've confirmed that the AC source/outlet is live. To resolve this issue you must troubleshoot the G1 board board to isolate the faulty parts. If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments and can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to replace the entire G1 board or seek for an assistance of a qualified TV Technician.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

How many times does the standby light blink between each pause? Its a self-test diagnostic that will pn-point us to the source of the problem so please let me know.

Unit will not Power Up.

Terry, I had the same problem. Its a small capacitor on the power board labelled 'C16'(right in the middle of the board) its value is 16volt 100uf.
I also changed the biggest one on the board as well( 450volt 270uf @85deg). The big one was sourced through RS components @£5.14, the other I got through a maplins store for the grand sum of 13 pence.
Both are quite easy to change if your not adverse to taking the unit apart. (Just remember where all the leads plug in).
A torx T10 screwdriver, and soldering iron is all you need.

Lightening struck my Xbox original

Replacing the power supply inside the xbox has always worked for me. If you want a cheap power supply buy one of ebay. Make sure you buy the right model. There are three different types. 1.0-1.1, 1.2 - 1.5 & 1.6 power supply. To tell which one you have look at the wire where it plugs into the motherboard. If it's a single row of pins, then you need the 1.0-1.1 power supply. If it's a double row and has an orange wire anywhere on it then you need the 1.2 - 1.5 board. No orange and you need the 1.6 board. You can also find a picture here:
on how to distinquish the three apart. You can also fork out the extra $10 bucks or so by buying a universal power supply board. Replace the board and I'll guarantee you that you will get some more play time out of the system.
