Question about Computers & Internet
I was repairing a hp dv7 laptop power jack. Somewhere during the process it's possible that i got polarity mixed up, but maybe not. Either way i ordered a brand new jack, and it does not work either. The power jack has an LED on it that should turn on when it's plugged in. This LED is powered by the motherboard itself, not directly from the power provided by the power supply. This LED does not turn on either. I have unplugged every component from the motherboard, including all memory modules and CPU. I try turning on the board and it doesn't seem to turn on (no LEDs light up). With the battery plugged in the "charging" LED flashes, but i hear a faint clicking sound coming from the motherboard, which i think indicates a short.
