Sounds like an over heating or hardware issue.Try to and check all of your components and see that they are dust free.Also try to reseat the ram and video card(if onboard isnt being used).Try to remove any add in cards except for video and try to see if it will work.Try a different cd/dvd rom,to install an os,to see if the old cd/dvd rom is bad.If you have more than 1 stick of ram,remove all but 1,and see if its ok,then try the others the same way.If you have another system that you can use then you can test all the equipment in it.
