JUST PUT STOCK TAPPETS IN IT ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO AND JUST REPLACED THE RODS A FEW DAYS AGO. WHEN PUTTING THE TOP END BACK TOGETHER I NOTICED THAT ONE TAPPET DIDNT HAVE OIL SITTING ON TOP OF IT ANYMORE. ALL THE OTHERS HAD A PUDDLE OF OIL STILL ON TOP THE NEXT MORNING. VALVES AND SPRINGS ARE FINE AND THE ROCKERS ARE GOOD.

Rocker arms are responsible to move the valves and hence control the valve timing. So if youe mileage and power goes okay,i don think there is some problem with the rocker arms.

.003 for the intake and .005 for the exhaust should do nicely.

i would suggest asking your mechanic which viscosity(thickness) oil he put back in and check it against the manufacturers recommendation as if it isto thin then it will make your tappets unusally noisey if he has put in the correct oil then i would say that they were quiet because of the old gungy oil and they either need adjusting or if they are hydraulic then the lifters need replacing
