How to reset your whole computer to the point where your machine starts all over

Be sure to make a "backup" of all your files & music & E-mail before you start to reinstall.

Take the set of "System Restore" CD/DVD disks that came with your computer.
Insert the first of those disks into your CD-drive.
If it does not prompt you to reinstall,
then reboot your computer, and tell it to "boot" *FIRST* from the CD-drive. Follow the on-screen directions to reinstall everything.

My monitor says input not supported

Hi there,

Monitor says 'input not supported', means the computer is sending an incompatible display mode to your monitor. Please check the user’s manual for supported display mode or input and configure your computer to those settings. The recommended setting for LCD panel is 1024x768 resolution and you may need to change the refresh rate of the monitor to 60Hz.
In Safe Mode, fire uop regedit and ry going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Class\Display and delete that whole key (yes, this bascially will remove your video drivers) then reboot, when you reboot windows should start up in standard VGA mode and prompt you for the video card drivers.

When I try to reboot my delld620, with windows xp pro, after the whole process is done, when I go to my desktop all my software is all there and pretty much nothing has changed. Its like I attempted to...

Re-install the config for the sound device: by the Control Panel/System/Material tab/Device manager, you select the Audio Controller. You're supposed to have many descriptors. Delete all of them, one by one and then restart your computer. XP will re-install them at the reboot.
