Reset my dlink dir 615 router and now internet light stays flashing orange

Do you have the Internet connected to the Internet port in the back of the DLINK? You will have to configure the DLINK for internet access. Open a web browser to your DLINK and check on the configuration under internet-setup. Select the type of internet connection you have i.e. DHCP, PPPoE, Static, etc. Once that is set up, you should have access to the internet like before.

I have a d link d1 514 router. I'm unable to open 192.168.0.1. if i put the internet connection wire in LAN then I'm able to get internet access using cable but if i put the wire in wan, I'm not getting...

carry out the resetting of the dlink router
then use lan cable to gain access to dlink router,
set up the internet conenction (i.e. your internet provider modem plugged into the dlink router also)

if it has a built in wizard then just follow the on screen instructions

you will need to define SSID (wireless network name) and passkey (password for the wireless connection)

and the your done. disconnect the laptop from wired connection and connect via wireless

When trying to wireless connect my laptop through my desktop pc connection fails. Have tried reconfiguration of both the 'DLINK' modem and the Laptop without success.

Try resetting your desktop back top a static configuration. ie: Do not assign a ip.
You system will assign a ip of 192.168.0.1 most likely.
Now, disconnect your modem from its power source and remove its battery for 30 seconds.
Next, disconnect your power source to the router or hub.
Now, go ahead and hook up your power connections to the router and install your battery and power connection to your modem.
Allow your modem to fully setup before attempting to go further.
Now, reboot your desktop and try your normal internet connection..
If it works ok, leave it and go to your laptop.
Leaving the desktop unit on, startup your laptop.
Your laptop should see the static address from the desktop and assign itself a different number, one that does not conflict with the ip address of the desktop.
Hope this works out well for you.

Ssid network

The SSID setting is part of the DLink wireless setting.
To configure the DLInk wireless/router from new, you may need to connect the DLink wireless/router the laptop with a 10baseT cable, then open your browser and enter the URL address http:/192.168.0.1 The default login = admin, no password required. Unless you have previously altered the default settings.
You should configure the DLink wireless with a different SSID from the default one and set it up with encryption preferrably WAP.
You should also setup a password for the admin login, so to prevent someone from hacking into your wireless/router to change your settings and steal your Internet access.
You would need to setup the wireless card in the laptop to have the same wireless/router settings eg. SSID and encryption.
You can now remove the LAN cable and connect to the Internet by wireless.
All this information is in your manual.

Limited or no connectivity to the internet. my setup: the telephone port is approx 30m from where i need internet access. Originally I had a dlink wireless router set up but was connected via cable, now...

On which port of the D-link router did you plug the WRT160N router?

Do this setup.

Disconnect the WRT160N from D-link.

Connect a computer to port 1 of the WRT160N. Access the setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address bar. you may need to type in the username and password for WRT160N. on the setup page Change the LAN IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1. save the settings.

Connect a cable from port 1,2,3 or 4 of the D-link router to the Internet port of the WRT160N. turn off everything then turn them on starting from cable modem>D-link >WRT160N then computer.

You should be able to access the internet.
