Get in touch with the whoever sold you wrong one to start with. If you still don't get the right one, try a dealer who sells that brand of machine.

I think the plastic on the bobbin case has been chipped off a bit. Can't get it to stay in place. I believe I've got it in right, it just won't stay there. After taking it out and looking at...

I think this is your bobbin case
being plastic they are damagable if the case moves and the needle strikes it. Sometimes you can file out the damage with a nail file. But replacements are available too.

Hope this helps.

Why does the shuttle hook grab the spool thread instead of the bobbin thread? It wraps the thread around the bobbin and binds the machine up.

The shuttle hook is suppose to hook the needle (spool) thread and loops it around the bobbin case to form the lock stitch. Is it possible that something was adjusted without proper clearances as to allow the thread looping around the bobbin case to do so without catching up where it should pass through freely?

I can pull the thread from the spool out

I solved this problem by buying a new Apollo Singer bobbin. It was $12.00 at a local sewing machine store. This bobbin is everywhere, since it goes with about 30 Singer sewing machine models.

I had to do a little adjusting to the new bobbin. 1/3 of a turn loosening the tiny screws.

Sewing machine: Problem getting bobbin to automatically wind with thread from spool

You ought to have a 3 mth warantee with this used machine, take it back to the dealer and have them fix this Australia, consumer law provides that the sale of goods requires that they are "fit for their intended purpose".....there is almost certainly a similar provision where you are........get it remedied soon, as a feature that has not worked since you purchased ....perhaps calling first to ensure you are able to meet with the service person to explain.

I would not recommend you open it yourself until the dealer has looked at it.

If they cannot fix it, ask for replacement or money back.
