Bolting in child seats is rather old fashioned since a range of child seats arrived on the market that are designed to be retained by the vehicle's own seat belts.
These seats are easily swapped between vehicles, are safe and secure and widely available.

I haven't needed to bolt in a child seat for nearly 20 years but I used to fit many for my customers. It was invariably impossible to piggyback the upper strap mounts onto the vehicle seatbelt anchor points and new mounts had to be drilled after removing seats and trim. Sometimes it was possible to piggyback the lower mounts. So far I haven't encountered any car with pre-installed child seat mounts.

In the outer rear seats, you may use either the ISOFIX attachments or the seat belt. In the center rear seating position, you may only use the seat belt.

Carefully read the instructions for your child seat and the vehicle manual. They will give you directions to install your child seat properly.

There are no child anchors on a 96. This was around the time the latch system was under development. Just went through looking into this for my 1996 van. chico car seat fit well

The newer van seats will not fit either( I do have a 2007 seat for sale now ) as I tried to make one fit in my 1996 van with the latch system and it didnt fit. Wheels right spacing too wide for the anchor points.

the camry does NOT have the type of belt you require.only answer is replacements or change the child seat to one that fits the anchorages.

Stores had recalled a Remi 2 Travel Basic Car Seat as a precautionary measure.There is a risk that the car seat may not provide the required restraint if the seat straps can be removed and then rethreaded. However this seat should strap in with the lap strap.

We have 6 car seats for our 3 children; one in each vehicle. I moved the seats around so all three can fit in our CRV; however, if I would not have swapped the carseats, all three would not have fit in the CRV. In other words, be creative. When your child is old enough/big enough for a booster seat, those are smaller. I think I waited until my child was at least 3 for a booster, but they are worth the $30-$60 to save the room you need in the car if your child is big enough.

as long as you have the sealtbelt properly fitted on the childs chest. there wont be any problems. btw, i have a 1979 toyota corona. so that makes our cars nearly the same.
