Question about HP DeskJet 970cse InkJet Printer

HP DeskJet 970Cse cartridges won't move

The cartridges begin to move to position but stop just after starting. There is a loud grinding noise but no obstruction present that is visible. I was working on a problem feeding paper when this began. I've tried unplugging, rebooting, replacing the cartridge. I need to do a lot a printing soon so any help is greatly appreciated

Okay be gentle, but try to move the cartridge box manually from side to side. it's possible that the gears have gotten stripped which is why they won't move even though they are trying to. so i'd try and move them from side to side and see if you can physically move it yourself. like i said be gentle in the chance the gear isn't stripped. good luck!

My hp deskjet f4140 keeps showing a paper jam and won't print the page I need, there isn't a paper jam.

There is probably a problem with the position of the cartridge carriage. Try reinstalling the cartridge and make sure that the carriage is in the center of the cartridge access area and the center of the cartridge assembly bar. If it is not try moving the cartridge assembly in either direction and restore the printer for printing. Note any sounds as the cartridge attempts to go to its home position. Any grinding noise may indicate that the position of the cartridge needs to be adjusted. Be patient and adjust the cartridge position again until no grinding sounds are heard. It may help to unplug the printer for 30 seconds between adjustments. Good Luck!

HP Deskjet 1320 printer makes grinding noise and stalls before it prints

I think the noise is normal for hp deskjet. When starting up, the printer read the head existence, and do cleaning. is it the first replacement cartridge? Disable ink status monitor.

970 Cse cartridges bang over to the left and then nothing

I had the same problem with my HP Deskjet 970Cse which was quickly resolved by going to the below HP site and looking under the Issue: The carriage is stuck or makes a grinding noise. Note that the blinking lights displayed as: Resume Light Blinking Simultaneously AND Power Light Blinking Simultaneously.

The Solution:
1. Lift the top cover to the printer.
2. Turn the printer off and then on again.
3. Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer when the grinding noise starts.
4. Move the carriage towards the middle of the printer.
5. Take out the cartridges and close the top cover.
6. Plug the power cord to the back of the printer. Turn the printer on.
7. Open the top cover, reinstall the cartridges, and then close the top cover.

Hope this helps as it worked for me.
