again I have date expired cartrides for my HP business inkjet 1000 that will not work despite being brand new, apart from the expiery date of 2007.

Any ideas how this can be overcome??

Same problem not impressed, my inks are half full, price to replace the four cartridges, more than it would cost to buy a new printer, next time I will buy a Canon.

HP Deskjet 3845 printing in blue yellow and green but no red. Print cartridges are new.

Check your cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality of remanufactured or refilled cartridges. Also make sure that the expiry date of the color ink is not reached. You should find it written on the cartridge itself.

Bypass expired message cartridge. Cartridge is less than six months old & nearly full.

Every cartridge will have its own ID and Expiry date, please check the Cartridge expiry date, if its really expired then printer will reject it even-though the cartridge is full.

We cannot bypass cartridge errors for single cartridge in INK-JET printer, because they work in TIJ technology (Thermal Ink Jet) which needs all cartridges to be functional unlike Laser-jet printers.

I have not use the HP Inkjet 2800 for over 1 year. The first message reads" replace expired cartridge but when i check all the ink cartridge are nearly full. Please help! Matt S

Some HP cartridges actually have expiry dates on and they will not let you use them past this date. There is no way around this I'm afraid and you will have to purchase a new one. The use by dates are usually well in the future but sometimes if they are old stock or left for a while they can run out.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

yes..that's a clock settings issue..go to your control panel, and set your time about 1 year ahead.

shut down machine, and let the system reboot.

remove the printer s/w through control panel

re install, with new date as set in above.

and then you're print driver manager will think it 's fine.

refills..sure..good idea..loads of ways to do that..

HP Business Inkjet 1000 error detecting new cartridge

Disconnect the communication cable (USB?).

Turn off the printer, wait one minute then turn it back on,

Then press the left button on the panel, the transparent one to the left of power button. It will print a status page. Check the dates and information under each color that is failing.

The ink cartridges MAY be outdated. Printing the test and information page without the computer connected fools the machine since it can't get your computer date.

If the cartridges are outdated, then change your computer year back to 2005 or so, reconnect the printer cable and send something to print, once the printer prints it out, reset your computer to today's year.

You will need to do this procedure whenever you turns off the printer. (Disconnect cable, change computer year, print, reset computer date).

Hope this works.

Some time it takes days before the printer will register it.

Expired HP printer cartridges

I have the identical problem with an HP Business Inkjet 1100.

Once cartridges were past date, the printer would no longer print from Windows XP. It would however work perfectly from Linux.

I did not find an ini file as mentioned in other posts, and I really did not want to open the printer as it worked fine in Linux.

The following fixed the problem:

1) Click on Start button, run
2) Type in regedit, enter
3) Navigate to HKLM/software/Hewlett-Packard/HP Printers/HPWH Toolbox/Common
4) In the right panel, right click on Ink, pick modify
5) Change 0100 to 0000
6) Save and reboot
