Question about Acer Aspire One PC Notebook

I can't connect to the internet where i'm at

I'm staying in a motel it connects but i can't excess the web it needs the passcode for the motel but i don't know where to go to enter it.

    click the wireless options in the bar next to the clock on the lower right of your screen , disconnect then reconnect if it asks for a passcode you may have to get that from the front desk to be able to connect and use the connection. they may also have a USB or other type of dongle that you plug in with to be able to use the service

When it asks for the passcode there will be a space to enter it after the question. If it doesn't, you go to the internet options section and "connect " to the required WiFi signal. Then enter the passcode when requested.

Technics amp hd81 shows fault f61 which is the amp fan, how much to get it fixed


IS it the amp fan failing? It could be something simpler and cheap.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it '*****'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

You can find the Service Manual (not necessarily for free) by web searching "Technics HD81 Service Manual". It will identify the fan part number. Then web search for THAT.

Changed connection and modem to 100 Mbps. No wireless connection from router. Tried wired connection. No go. Router does connect..all lights green. Laptop sees the connection but no internet access.

Discussion: I'm going to provide you with three solutions and between them you should get online. However, you should be advised that in order to fully analyze and correct any difficulties you're having, we should be chatting or on a telephone connection. All I really know at this point is that you can't connect to the Internet through your router.

I'm going to give you three FREE general fixes and let's hope that one of them will work for you. If not, then we have to chat.



Now, let's see if I can help you.

The first solution I'm suggesting works in my business (LAN installations) about 95% of the time. I trust that it will work for you.


Begin by turning on your computer and your router

? Make sure your service provider has activated your account and services on the subscribed line. Please check with your service provider to confirm this.
? Make sure that you are using the latest drivers. You can download the latest driver from Driver Downloads Database.
? Make sure that you have entered the right username and password (case-sensitive) as given by your service provider. For example, in Australia: user@bigpond; in NZ: user.name.xadsl@xtra.co.nz.
? Open Internet Explorer;
? Click on 'Tools';
? Click on 'Internet Options';
? Click on 'Connections';
? Click on 'Setup'
? Click on 'I want to set up my Internet connections manually . . .';
? Click on 'Next';
? Click on 'I connect through a local area network (LAN);
? Clock on 'Next'
? Click on 'Next' [This is not an error];
? Click on 'No';
? Click on 'Next';
? Click on 'To connect to the Internet immediately . . .; and,
? Click on 'Finish'.

That should have you online.

However, if the first solution doesn't get you connected, do the following:
• Click on tools again.
• Click on 'Diagnose Connection Problems'
• and follow the instructions.


The second suggested solution is to use the Setup Wizard. It seldom works for me but you might have more luck than poor me. Here are the instructions:

The Connect to the Internet wizard will guide you through the steps of setting up an Internet connection.

Open the Connect to the Internet wizard by:

• Clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button
• Click on Control Panel.
• In the search box, type network,
• Click "Network and Sharing Center"
• Click Set up a new connection or network
• Then double-click "Connect to the Internet".

The third solution requires an Internet connection. I'm going to pass on to you a FREE and hard to believe program from Microsoft called Microsoft Fixit! I have no idea why this little program hasn't been advertised but then I don't own their stock.

Switching wireless on


Powerup the laptop and wait for the main screen to appear.

Turnon the laptop's Wi-Fi switch, typically located on the left or right edge ofthe laptop near the front of the computer. Look for a small, sliding switch.

Viewthe wireless networks in range of your laptop by double clicking on the Wi-Fiicon in the lower right-hand corner of your laptop screen. The icon resembles acomputer monitor with three curved lines, like radio waves, emanating from theside.

Checkthe list of available wireless networks and select the network with thestrongest signal. The signal strength is represented by several bars next tothe name of each network. The more bars you see, the stronger the signal.Choose a network that you can access---either your own Internet connection athome or the office, or the Wi-Fi wireless network connection available for freein some restaurants, coffee shops, motels and other businesses that offer Wi-Fito their customers.

Selecta wireless network and click the "Connect" button.

Enterthe code for accessing the network if prompted to do so. For example, if youare staying at a motel that offers Wi-Fi access to guests, the code will besupplied to you at check-in, or you can call the front desk to obtain it. Mostsystems require you to enter the code twice.

Waitfor the window to display a message that the Wi-Fi is connected.

Openyour Web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

hmmm..that's not a Toshiba issue. sounds like a wireless card settings, where you need to set it up to automatically connect to wireless..it may be set for only one configuration.
