It's simple. Put the round file in the link under the flat piece. It needs to be filing the curved part of the blade.

Hard to explain but VERY easy to do.

This is what I did. I took my saw to a lawn and garden store that sells chainsaws. I purchased a file and a file guide made for my size chain. It is easy. Just a few strokes with the round file on the teeth and a few strokes on the rackers and it is good to go.

How to sharpen chain saw chain


Hi

You need to purchase the correct diameter file for the size of chain you have fitted on your saw. Suggest also that you buy a Stilh file holder (this is a frame which holds the file, and acts as a guide to give you correct filing angle and depth, just a few dollars).

Do not file too much off each time, I give each tooth two files strokes only. You have to keep the saw sharp all the time, I sharpen every two tank fills of fuel.

Suggest you Google the subject, Oregon chain is a good make and will have details of how to sharpen

How to sharpen


Husqvarna do a very simple roller guide for sharpening there chains, it comes with a roller gauge two round files and a flat file for the depth gauges, check out the local dealer or the web, it is a very simple tool to use with great results.

I have purchased Poulon pro 42cc 18 inch chainsaw. I am extremely satisfied with my chainsaw until now. I have only owned it for about two months. I only used it maybe 10 times for easy tasks. my chainsaw...


The chain needs sharpened or replaced. You can purchase the tools from any hardware store, and sharpen the chain yourself in about 15 minutes. Don't worry, your saw is just fine!

Does the blade ever need to be sharpened or replaced?


A chain saw blade requires sharpening often. It can be in as little as 20 minutes if your cutting a very hard wood. Even less if you happen to allow the blade to be used in dirt.

McCulloch Chainsaw electrimatic EM250-14 how to sharpen chain with electric sharpener.


I am not a great beleiver in electric sharpeners, they get the cutters too hot, this case hardens them making them brittle and they lose there edge quickly, they can no longer be sharpened with a file as they are like glass, purchase a good roller guide sharpener from a Husqvarna dealer, they are simple to use and work well.

Looking for sharping stone from efco fl64 /8 chain


There are multiple chain sizes 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/32", 7/32" and 3/8" chains so the /8 chain number has me guessing. After the qurestions below, here is my best guess.

You can also use hand held chain sharpening files of the same size that have shapening angles marked on the file set fixture.

Hopefully you have a sharpening guide that will keep your angles correct while shapening.

A safety note: Improperly sharpened chainsaw blades can be very dangerous to the user.

you can buy a simple kit for a few dollars, there is a jig that holds the chain and a roud file that will be guided through the jig at the proper angle to sharpen the chain

I need to know the right angle to sharpen my chainsaw


If your saw still has the original bar and chain, it was supplied with a .325" pitch chain and you'll need a 3/8" round file with a sharpening guide to properly sharpen it.

Here's a link to the Husqvarna site to the Rancher 455 models so you can select the correct manual to download, that matches your particular saw, based on the year of manufacture, etc.

There is some excellent information about maintaining your saw, along with a really good guide with step-by-step instructions for proper sharpening.

Chain saw cuts at an angle


I have seen this problem of a chain saw cutting at an angle brought up again and again on forums, and result in a variety of answers about sharpening the chain, or replacing the bar and/or chain. In a number of these requests for solutions, none of the advice has solved the problem. I have used chain saws for about 45 years now, and there is a condition that some chains develop with the pitch of the teeth or the guides...or both...that will cause them to cut to the left or right at an angle (usually left). While I have not figured out what causes this, I have solved the problem of correcting it. First, turn the nose of your bar and chain toward you on a bench, look down it like sighting a gun and take a look at each tooth and guide. If the saw is cutting left, the teeth or the guides (or both) on the left (while you are looking down the bar from its tip) will be pitched differently than the teeth and/or guides on the right. The pitch of those teeth or guides (those little ears that stick up about on-fourth inch in front of each tooth) will be: 1) too much in line with each other, or 2) the teeth or guides will be less pitched than the teeth or guides on the right side of the chain. Solution: take a large pair of lineman's pliers or similar pliers and pitch those teeth and guides to match those on the right side of the chain. Also, make sure the curved part of your chain teeth peek out around the outside edge of those guides. If the guides are directly in line with your teeth, they will hinder cutting by the teeth. You can do this with the chain on the saw if you don't have too much slack between the bar and the chain. Last, make sure that the chain guides are not as tall or taller than your teeth. If they are, you will need to file them down a little (with a flat file) until the teeth are slightly longer than the guides. Afterward, make sure the teeth on both sides are equally sharp, and go cut a straight cut! TennesseeBob
