How to clean HP Officejet K550 Printer waste tray

I was reading that before replacing the HP Officejet K550 Printer Heads the Waste Tray should be checked to determine if it is full or the rubber wipers are dirty. How do I perform this task of checking the Waster Tray and rubber wipers?

SOURCE: waster toner tank full/not install

The Waste Toner Cartridge must be VERY clean, especially around the "bump" directly below the left side hole. After I CAREFULLY emptied the old toner out, I used air compressor to clean every bit of toner out from inside. Then I wiped the whole area around the "bump" where the sensor "sees" if the tank is empty. Even a slight film over the area will not allow for reuse. If you do this, it works every time.

That usually is a sensor failing. You can try to locate it (in the area where the tray goes) and see if it is loose.

Good luck.

I cannot Print

Buy a differently branded printer. I have had the K550 for two years and have had nothing but problems, frustration and time wasted. All in all I have had in working for a couple of months at most. Numerous printhead cleaning exercises and paper thrashed. A tortuous waste of hours of my time (and I mean hours) trying to get it up a going. Each time I left teh printer idel for a couple of weeks, the whole printhead cleaning circus began again. Read the reviews on other websites. This model is a complete dud. Nothing can be done to salvage it. If still under warranty ask for your money back. Otherwise bring it to a recycling centre,

My HPOfficejet Pro K550 will not print checks correctly

Hi crys smith -

for future refs: if the paper type and size (in this case checks) is set up correctly in the software that you are using to create the checks, perhaps it would help to check the printer settings. this link at hp support might help you then:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00494598&dlc=en&product=501369

it includes checking and changing print settings and stopping a print job. (-and no one wants to waste checks!) -JW50

Tray selection

If there is such a thing for that printer it would be in the advanced settings under you printer driver.

Select control panel.
Select printers.
Move the mouse over to the printer.
Press the right mouse button.
Select properties.
Press the printing preferences button
Look under the advanced tab for the settings.

You could see if there is an updated driver on HP.com if that feature isn't listed.
