Question about Polaroid FLM-3732 Television
I wonder if you could help me? I've been on Fixya quite a bit lately. First off, I fixed my TV 37" lcd by replacing the two bad capacitors. Worked great. Then while using the shopvac in a plug nearby, I noticed the red LED on my tv went out (dead no LED...nothin). I replaced the fuse in the plug insert with a 3a, 250v (the didn't have 4a) fuse and got a red light back but with a subtle screeching sound from the power supply board that seemed to get louder when I pressed the power button and the blue light appeared. After about 5 seconds of blue light, the tv would die again. Same result multiple times and with black screen only. Do you think my problem is my power board? I did notice a small burn circle behind it on the metal plate, (Forgot to replace the white plastic protective board that prevents this) duh. The 2 capacitor still look good, no bulging. Would it be wise to replace the power supply board ($130). Please help? Thanks jonathan moeller
Sounds like The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.
