Question about Tools & Hardware - Others
The brushes are on the front and back of the motor, under the top cover. Remove the four screws on the top cover and remove it. The brushes are held in place by a coil spring, pull it back so the brush will slip out. Some brush leads have slip connectors and others are held in place by a screw, depends on what type router you have. Disconnect the brush lead then reverse the process to install the new brush.

SOURCE: router runs slow
I still think that it is the bearings, especially since of the squealing noise which is a symptom of the bearing seizing up and the armature shaft would get hot transferring the heat to the motor housing. Give me the model number and brand and I will find a breakdown and part numbers for you and also if you give me your general location I will try and find someone local to get the parts.

I show the part number as 42999 for the accessory and they also list 876669 for the 1/4 collet. Give me the general area with zip code and I will try and find someone locally that can help you

it has to be pressed on and off the armature shaft, Also unless there is a retaining ring or other stop it needs to be set to a certain depth so it wont hit the housing. I would try and see if there is a repair facility that can do this work for you, the cost I would think would be minimal
