bought the same amp second hand and had same problem as there are two seperate amp chips inside one for front speakers and one for the centre and rears it could be the actual amp chip that drives the front speakers has died as there is no built in speaker protection so over driving these speakers will result in the amp chip blowing . it may be something simple but it was not on mine had to buy new amp chip and solder in that sorted the problem for me !

In most cases I find that that section in your receiver just got turned off somehow. Go into the set up where it shows the 5.1 speaker display and make sure the speakers are all activated. Larry's Electronics. firstname.lastname@example.org

You need to use an amplified sub. The Yamaha receiver is only sending "Pre-Amp Signal" not amplified audio like the rest of your speakers. If your sub has a crossover built in, connect it's speaker level (wires) to the "B" side of the receiver which will send audio to your sub and it will cross it over internally. Not the best sounding, but it works. Amplified subs range in price from 200 and up. Hope this helps

SOURCE: hi, I have an acoustic
Um, if the sub has the standard speaker wire connections it will only work when connected to a single set of speaker OUTPUTS by something elctrically similar to lamp cord. I assume you have other amps for the other channels.
Some more information about the sub would have made this easier for both of us.
