Question about Sewing Machines
This machine is only 8 months old, and I have used it sporadically, without any problems. Suddenly, the bobbin thread is not being picked up, and the machine is not sewing. I followed the troubleshooter instructions to recheck the threading, remove the face plate and dust the feed dogs and surrounding area. Despite the machine being set to default straight stitching when powered on, the needle appears to have a lot of lateral movement, and makes a scraping sound each time the hand wheel is turned. Any ideas.
Have you tryed changing the needle--flat side goes to the back of the machine--if that does not help it's also possible that the machine could be out of time
it would need to be serviced

Feed dog drive gear(2) are plastic and are probably stripped. Always replace them in pairs. While you are at it replace both hook drive gears as well. It will run as good as new.

Make sure that the right large dial (which is the drive wheel for the motor) is engaged. You might have it set for winding a bobbin and the needle will not go down unless you have the right wheel pushed in.

Return it to the store that you bought it and get another one. If, you bought it from a regular dealer, like JoAnn Fabrics they will help you out. You are under warranty, so if necessary take it to the authorized repair center. It should be free.

SOURCE: Singer 6105 Tension knob
First make sure that the thread you are using in the bobbin is the same brand and type as in the spool that is threaded. I've read that using different weight threads at the same time can cause tension problems. I have actually had this problem and following this advice it went away. If this doesn't work you may need to have the machine serviced, unless someone else in the forum can advise otherwise. Good luck.
