Question about Xerox DocuColor 12 Printer

Problems need to be solve on DC1250

I am using XP Service Pack 3 running Fiery software Version 2, EX12 on DC1250

Question 1 - I cannot shut down my Fiery EX12 everytime it say shutting down but never actual shuts down.

Question 2 - Everytime I switch it to power save mode and switch back it back "ON" it doesn't print so what I did was I have to restart the RIP.

Question 3: I try to scan using FieryScan but without any success.

Question 4 - Do I have to update my driver from Xerox site: http://www.support.xerox.com/go/results.asp?Xtype=download&prodID=DC12CP&Xlang=en_US&Xcntry=USA&prodName=DocuColor%2012%20Copier/Printer

Any what if I mess up with the installation would it be a major disaster?

IF I were you I would call Xerox and tell them if they have software for the service pack three and see if they ( Xerox ) experienced Conflicts with this software first , Strat there then my next step is to actually delete the drivers for the Xerox DC-12 and re-install it. see if this solves your problem

Installing Fiery software is notoriously tricky! Although they refer to a different Fiery model, the files in the following link will give you a good idea of what is involved :

Can't reinstall software from original CD. message from install program says drivers are missing. Running XP with Service Pack 3 and installed driver check software says it's all there ok, but HP...


I stopped using a "driver check software " because I have had more problems like that than it was worth. I just go to the web site for the software manufacture for updates. Also, most software now has the feature that allows you search for current updates.

1. Uninstall the "driver check software".
2. Reboot
3. Run the setup from the CD.

If the CD reinstalls then your problem is the "driver check software".

You also might run Windows update.

I have got a Xerox Docucolor 12 printer, a Fiery X12, and a laptop running on Vista. I dont have any cables except the power cables and was looking for a list of everything I'd need to get it running...


There are 2 cables that go between the fiery and the printer, not sure where you can get these.
You will need to be running windows xp
connect to the fiery with an ethernet line
download the drivers, command workstation, and fiery remote scan from the xerox website
hopefully the fiery still has its software loaded otherwise post a request for a copy here.

Does the Fiery Controller have a time-out setting?


If you go into the Setup menu from CWS, and log in as the Administrator, you will see all of the scanning settings that you are able to manipulate. Also, this should be covered in your service contract with the company that sold you the machines.

Fiery of Canon IR300-405 asking Auth Code


I have experienced this before but seem to remember I had to format and upgrade the Fiery software using the special software tool. Everything worked fine then. Sorry I can be more precicse but it was a while ago.

pls u check the fiery and dc12 printer cable. if u have another cable pls replace and chek that also. i think the problem is in only the connectres. u remove and clean all conctres and refix. maybe the problem solved.

Xerox Fiery Xp12 - Problem (INVALID LICENCE) apears on the screen


You will need to use what came with your machine.
The note from Xerox states this.

NOTE: You will need the Fiery Restore / Update Server Software CD and the User Documentation v2.0 CD that came with your EX12 v2.0 Software

And here is the loading process
  1. Visually check to make sure the Fiery LCD is at the Idle screen before you proceed. This will make sure the Fiery is not in use.
  2. Insert the Fiery Restore / Update Server Software CD into the Fiery EX12.
  3. Press [Menu] button on the Fiery Server.
  4. Press the [Down arrow] button.
  5. Press the [Shut Down] button.
  6. Press the [Reboot System] button. The message 'Rebooting System' will display and disappear after a few moments. The Fiery Server will reboot and complete internal testing. The Restore / Update CD menu will be displayed.

    NOTE: Ignore the message 'It's now safe to power off the system'.

  7. Press the [Up arrow] or [Down arrow] button to scroll to 'Restore System' so this is highlighted. Press the [OK] button. The 'All data will be Deleted. Continue?' message will be displayed.
  8. Press the [Up arrow] or [Down arrow] button to scroll to 'Yes' so this is highlighted. Press the [OK] button. The 'Restoring System...' message will be displayed.

    NOTE: The System Restore will take approximately 7 minutes, during this time the message 'Restoring System...' will continue to be displayed.

  9. Press the [OK] button when the 'Restore Complete!' message is displayed.
  10. Press the [Up arrow] or [Down arrow] button to scroll to 'Exit' so this is highlighted. Press the [OK] button.
  11. Remove Fiery Restore / Update Server Software CD from the EX12.
  12. Power OFF the Fiery Server. The power switch is located on the rear of the server, above the power cord.

    NOTE: Wait 10 seconds before powering ON.

  13. Power ON the Fiery Server. The Fiery Server will boot and complete a self-test.
  14. The EX12 will prompt you to insert the User Documentation CD. Insert the CD and the Fiery will continue with the process. When the process is complete, the Fiery LCD will display the message 'Please remove CD'.
  15. Remove the User Documentation CD
  16. Power OFF the Fiery Server. The power switch is located on the rear of the server, above the power cord.

    NOTE: Wait 10 seconds before powering ON.

  17. Power ON the Fiery Server. The Fiery Server will boot and complete a self-test.
  18. Using the Configuration Report as reference, re-enter the network settings on the EX12.
  19. Install any required patches, as needed. Refer to the Updated Information section on the Configuration Report.
  20. If needed, restore any data that you previously archived. See the Related Items.
