If you use Diesel, even ULSD, you are still burning injector lubricant.

Kerosene is best. It's better for the machine as it's cleaner and will need less maintenance plus it won't run smokey

How do u convert from kerosene to diesel

there may be possible ways out there to do the conversion but it may put you and your loved ones in jeopardy. kerosene and diesel fuel have different thermal characteristic during the burning process so the heater designed to run on kerosene may not be capable of handling the burning characteristics of diesel fuel. This may lead to unwanted fire incidents and loss of lives. Best is to purchase heater made for diesel fuel.

Does the 170T use desil as well as kerosene

Yes diesel can be used in torpedo heaters, but you should only use #1 diesel or #1 fuel oil or #1 kerosene. #2 fuels are dirty and will crud up the heater faster. The other problem with diesel fuel is that it gels at very cold temperature. Anti-gel additives are available.

Can you use diesel instead of kerosene in ready heaters?

No - diesel fuel is NOT the same as kerosene. Kerosene is #1, regular diesel is #2. They are not interchangeable.

Grade of fuel required for DESA heater

Dave you can use all three types that you have listed.

The pump is typically set for Number 2/ Diesel Fuel and if you run Kerosene the unit will run a little bit hotter but with a 3E359B you will typically run diesel due to the amount it will use and the increased cost of kerosene over diesel fuel.

Number 1 is similar to kerosene and is the fraction that boils off right after gasoline.
Number 2 is the diesel fuel that trucks and some cars run on, leading to the name "road diesel". It is the same thing as heating oil.

You said the fan blows but does it light? Diesel may have gummed up the nozzle or pump or fuel line.

Do i need to replace filter if i have been using kerosene and want to switch to diesel

No, the kerosene is number 1 fuel oil and Diesel is number 2. No.2 is a heavier fuel with more BTU's than the kerosene. After you have burned the diesel for awhile, you may want to change the filter. If you have trouble getting the diesel to burn, mix it with 25% kerosene and it will flow and go through the nozzle easier

I have a portable forced air heater Model R55A heater size 55,000/Hr can I use diesel fuel instead of kerosene?

You can, but prolonged use of diesel fuel will burn out the cone faster. Too hot. And it stinks alot worse than kerosene.

HARD START AND BLOWING SMOKE

clean all of your filters and the spark plug and go back to useing K1 kerosene. Diesel fuel has a higher ignition temp. burns dirty and has a tendency to gel.
