Zoom option doesn't work while recoding in movie mode in DSC-W70. You can adjust zoom-in or zoom-out before starting movie clip recording.

The camera did not record voice of movie when I use the optical zoom

From page 80 of this manual: "Optical zoom blocks sound being recorded when zooming."

Many cameras do this as otherwise the recording will include the sound of the lens being zoomed. There are two possible workarounds for this: 1) Don't use the optical zoom while recording. 2) Use an external sound recorder to record the soundtrack and mix them together on the computer.

My camera does not zoom in PROGRAM AUTO,DIS MODE and MOVIE MODE. Whenever i press the zoom button, it says, "not available in these settings". how can i resolve this?

Well assuming it isn't some new problem, I'd say the message is clear, the zooming is not available in these setting.
You shoul check on the camera manual.

If this is a new problem, then go to Olympus website an look for a firmware update for you camera model, this can fix the problem, and even if this wasn't a problem they might have make this function available in some new firmware.

Hope this helps

The zoom on the sb600 wont adjust accordingly to the zoom of my lens

Three things come to mind.
First, make sure that you are in fully automatic mode - easily done by reset (holding down "Mode" and "On/Off" at the same time. If you hit the "zoom" button it takes it out of automatic zoom and cycles through manual zoom settings until you get to auto again.
Second - make sure the camera is in an auto mode - manual mode could stop it from zooming.
Third - make sure that you don't have the diffuser pulled down. That can keep it from zooming also.
Good luck!

Can't zoom when taking picture with A767

While in camera mode you can change the settings so as to shoot in a lower resolution mode where you'll be allowed to zoom in on the image. But you'll lose clarity as you have it in lower resolution and also have zoomed in.

Optical zoom problem in movie mode

Your camera is not broken. That's by design. Canon cameras do not allow optical zoom use while in movie mode. Canon claims that using the optical zoom in movie mode would cause excessive noise in the movie. However, you can use digital zoom in movie mode. You'll need to go into the menus (press the menu button) and turn digital zoom "on" if it's currently off.

I have a lumix DMC-F27 camera it will no longer zoom. No I not in movie mode.

Hi,

Do you mean DMC-FZ7?

I own one. Assuming that the camera is working normally, then I know two settings that will cause the zoom to be fixed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Suggestion No. 1:

If the zoom is fixed at the wide end:

1. Turn the mode dial to "P". Now turn on the camera.
2. Press "MENU SET".
3. Press the up arrow button.
4. Now, a menu item named "CONVERSION" should be highlighted. Press the right arrow button.
5. A sub-menu screen should now pop up, select and set "OFF".

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Suggestion No. 2:

If the zoom is fixed at the telephoto end:

1. Follow Suggestion No.1.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Suggestion No. 3:

If none of the above solve the problem, then the lens might have been knocked slightly out of position.

~If the camera has been dropped.
~If the camera has been thumped or banged.
~If while zooming, the lens was obstructed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The zoom motor also could have died, it costs about $50.00 U.S. at Panasonic.com.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My best advice would be to contact panasonic customer service.

Zooming problem

I have the same problem. I have no fix in rec mode but if it happens during playback; press menu and select the zoom options. You don't have to pick any but just keep the menu displayed on the screen. I do this while recording the tape to my DVD recorder and it solves the locked zoom problem. The menu display does not get recorded.
This zoom problem is a big pain. We should start a class action suit against Canon. It started within a year of ownership with mine. I bought a Panasonic recently and haven't looked back.
Panasonic doesn't have the slick Canon marketing/packaging but it is a much better machine.

Why can't MVC-CD400 zoom in and out when video

On p. 100 in the manual it states that the zoom does not work when shooting a movie with the cd400 only. The cd400 has quite a few more features, for example the higher resolution and the Carl Zeiss lens, compared to the cd250, thereby justifying the higher price. It has more functions as a still digital camera, more manual settings, etc., so I guess you have to sacrifice that one function. No digital still camera will replace a camcorder - the fact that you can record a movie as long as the cd allows is a lot better than most other still cameras. So you and your friend have the best of all worlds together, you just have to share! I have taken thousands of pictures with my cd400, and the picture quality and the cheap storage are great. Happy shooting!
