Sony wega kdf-e60a20 clean behind screen

I bought my tv refurbished from sony and I didn't notice for some time that there is a gap on the bottom right between the screen and the face plate. This didn't affect the picture quality at all but now after 3 years of people smoking and general **** in the air I have noticed some discoloring in this area compared to the top left of the screen. I would really like to know how to remove the screen so that I can clean the back of the sceen and maybe fix my gap. Ideally I would like to find a link to a service manual but any help getting to the back of the screen would be good.

I'm having the same problem with my tv (wega sony kdf e60a20) just like a few other people here, with the sensor cutoff fuse, how do you replace this item?

If you mean the thermal fuse, the set should have a red blink code of 5 blinks. The thermal fuse is way inside on the frame of the lamp housing but can be tested with rear cover removed.

If you have one bad the red blinking light will have to display some code.

While tv is on, at times screen just blacks out ...then comes on again.....audio remains but picture fades in and out....often

Replace lamp in tv because symptom shows lamp is near to end of its working hours life and causing that problem.
If lamp has not been replaced in tv in last 2-3 years, its time to replace it to solve the issue.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual.
Thanks.

possible cause is the thermal fuse for the light bulb which is the back of the tv, next to the cooling fan.

it works!! First i took off the front panel. Just check your manual for instructions, very easy to do. If you do not have a manual just down load one from google.. The instruction are easy to follow. The screw they have you loosen with a alan wrench is attached to the plastic, so you do not have to worry about dropping it inside the tv. Removing the lamp was simple. once out you will notice on either side are two small mesh screens. One of mine was 80% blocked with dust, the other side was only 30-40% covered. I used a vacuum to remove the blockage, i did not want the dust and dirt to go inside the bulb. i then cleaned all around the lamp. Reinstalled, and we are go to go. The kids are happy and i am happier since my wife not be buying a new TV.
total cost of repair $.00
time required to fix, less than 15 minutes.

Also when my TV was loosing sound and picture and then return. I did turn off my TV, then turned on. I noticed a red blinking light. Mine flashed 5 times. After some reserch, 5 times is video related, bulb or video board. google red flashing light with the model you have and you will find what all the codes mean.
So if yours is flashing 5 times try the above, it might work for you and it is well worth the time before you call a tech and drops hundreds of dollars.

hope this helps.

I have this sony kdf-e60a20

lamp is monitored by an over-current protect circuit. When the lamp starts drawing a little more current than normal, the set starts shutting off the video and audio then in a couple minutes restrike the lamp. Unique to sony WEGA's, replace w/ new type xl-2200u, you should be o.k.
