I THINK THE INTERNAL PCB (power control board is bad) avoid problems in the future by simply replacing this monitor with a new one.
A new monitor gives you all new parts and warranty without the riskof the same problem.
when chosing a new monitor please check the rewiews on the one you have chosen via the internet before you buy it to avoid manufacturing or engineering defects resulting in future problems.

Sounds like a bad graphics card. Try using monitor wit another computer and see if the problem still exists. This rules out the display.

SOURCE: moniter goes into sleep mode
This may be a problem with the monitor, such as a failing video board, or it may also be a problem with the video card in your computer. If you can try the monitor on another computer or try a different monitor on your computer, you will have the answer. At the price new 18" widescreens are selling for (sub 100.00 in Canada), I would have a hard time justifying spending too much time or money trying to fix this one.
