Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How can I fix the error: "Proxy server not responding" on my Dell desktop?

Why are you running a proxy server? If you are on a home computer, sounds like a virus may be intercepting your traffic. Go into the internet settings and check the proxy settings. Write them down, just in case, then disable the proxy service.

Also, I'd install Malwarebytes to check for viruses and trojans.

I can't get my LAN settings to automatically detect settings, box will not check.

Reset your proxy settings
Proxy servers, or proxies, act as intermediary servers between a Web browser and the Internet. According to Microsoft's website, proxies are mainly used by networks in companies to enhance the security and speed of their network connection.
Proxy servers can also be used to log Internet usage, mask the network address of a server or to apply global restrictions to a network.
Internet Explorer is set to automatically detect proxy servers by default.
You can reset the Internet Explorer proxy settings to their default settings from the "Internet Options" configuration.

I have found the easiest way to do this is to add the menu to the top of a webpage.
Create the menu tab on your homepage right click in the top toolbar you should see a number of toolbar options select the menu tab which will add File Edit View Favorites Tools and Help
Click on tools option then from the drop down list Internet Options
Select the "Connections" tab, and click the "LAN Settings" button.
Delete the proxy server address and port from the "Proxy Server" settings and clear the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" check box.

Clear the check box beside the "Automatically detect settings" and "Use automatic configuration script" options in the "Automatic Configuration" section of the "LAN Settings" dialog window. Click "OK."
Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save these changes and close the "Internet Options" dialog window.
Close all Internet Explorer browser windows for these changes to take effect.

At school my computer willnot allow me to go to certain websites how do i unlock it

You have to follow the instructions

Unblocking Websites Technique #1: Use Proxy Servers Proxy servers can make your computer access the internet in an anonymous way. They bypass the filters the network administrator has chosen to limit your freedom to explore the world wide web. Quite simply a proxy server is a computer outside the control of the computer network you’re using. Since proxy servers have their own IP address, they can be accessed from your computer. You simply connect to the proxy server and in turn it connects to the blocked website. You can now both read and interact with the blocked website.

If your computer has been restricted from the browser, once you have loaded up your browser, go to the tools tab and change the security settings. Suppose, for some reason, you do not wish to change the settings on your browser, then another option is to download and install another browser. If, for example, your restrictions are on Microsoft Internet Explorer download and install Mozilla Firefox to surf the web.

thanks

The proxy server is refusing connections

When you set up your internet connection, you apparently entered information about a proxy server. Go back through that procedure and delete the reference to proxy server. Hope that helps!

NO INTERNET

It sounds like you might have proxy settings set up on your browser configuration. Click tools >internet options>Connections tab>LAN settings button on internet explorer. If "Use a proxy server" is checked uncheck it and save settings. Restart internet explorer and try again.

See below
Hope this helps
Here's how I solve it:
1. Open your Internet Explorer
2. Go to Tools > Internet Options then click the Connections tab
3.Click the LAN Settings button and a new dialog box will open
4. At the new dialog box, look for the Proxy server checkbox, if this is checked, uncheck it.
5. Then your done, click OK button for the dialog boxes.
6. Try logging in to your Yahoo Messenger account.
My solution is good only if you have set your proxy server previously in your Internet Explorer. I've noticed this behaviour since in our school, I need to set the proxy server to access the internet. But at home, I don't need to. So when I am at home, this is the normal situation I encounter when I forget to unset back the proxy settings.
On the other hand, the other way around should work. What I mean here is, if you connect to a network that has a proxy server, you need to setup the proxy settings in order for you to use their internet services. Thus, access to yahoo could be established.
[Solution #2]
One area to look also if the proxy is not the one causing the problem, you can check if you have your DNS Server address(es) set, which - in case you have changed your network, can't be accessible to the new network. Thus, it can cause this error.
So, you may unset the DNS Servers (Go to Network Properties >> General Tab >> TCP/IP Properties >> General Tab > Obtain DNS Server address automatically) and try logging in your YM.
[Solution #3]
If the above solutions does not go well, this last one might be the savior. Instead of constantly banging your heads with those re-logins and reconfigurations, you can track back your YM version and replace it with an old version instead. I did this and it works for me well. I had before a version 9 Yahoo Messenger and when I replace it with a version 8, the problem was solved. This should be your last resort if the previous won't work. Remember also to be patient. If it bugs you, don't bug down... bug up!

My E-Mail Server is down

the solution i will be posting assumes you already have postfix installed in the new machine and that your new postfix server is able to relay mails. Old configurations has been copied/transported to the new server ( and the only remaining task is to move all the mails to the new postfix server.

copy /home (your maildir) to your new server - check your postfix configuration to verify your maildir

also make sure you have copied

/etc/passwd
/etc/shadow
/etc/group
/etc/gshadow
/var/spool/mail

to your new mail server ( these are your mail related files)

Note: This is assuming you have identical setup you have with your old email server. double check your postfix configuaration before proceeding.

Good Luck
