I would reccomend checking both the TV's input jacks and the Xbox's output slot. If you got a new AV cable, then the odds that that cable are faulty are slim.

Try your new AV cord on a friends 360 if you have a friend with one. See if it works.

I found a microsoft troubleshooting Web Article that may help you solve your problem.

Re-post and tell me how it works out or if you need more help.

Hope this helped,

A black page came up and said to contact xbox custemer support and it has E 68 at the bottom what can i do

Turn on the console. Make sure the code recurs, otherwise it may just be a random hardware fluke and nothing to worry about.

  • Turn the Xbox 360 off. Detach the hard drive from the console by pressing the latch on the front of the hard drive caddy and lifting it from the top of the console.

  • Turn the console on again, without the hard drive. Make sure you have the latest update for the console from Xbox Live--all it takes is a quick connection to the internet with the console. If you have the NXE dashboard, or have bought your Xbox 360 after fall 2007, you should be good to go.

  • Disconnect and reconnect every peripheral hooked up to your console--including power cord, video cable and memory cards. This step is especially important if you have any third-party peripherals attached, such as a cooler.

  • Contact Microsoft support directly if all the above steps fail. This means the hard drive itself is at fault, and you simply need a new one.

I have the black xbox console.I bought a 3 month Gold Subscribtion for xbox live as a new member so I can join...I can not seem to get it to work . i was told that this card would work on the xbox console...

You have an Elite Xbox 360 Console. This would have no impact on the functionality of the Xbox live card. I would double check to make sure the code was entered correctly and in the correct location. Click here for instructions on where to enter the code.
If it still does not work then the only thing you can do is contact Microsoft Xbox 360 Support.

    Red ring on my xbox360

I recently had the E74 system error (1 red light) which started with as ‘black snow’ on the screen. There is an extended 3 year warranty that covers E74 and 3 Red Lights/RROD errors only. It seems to have been put down as a graphics chip and/or over heating problem.

I looked in to fixing it myself but thought might as well let someone else graze their hands getting the case off!

Despite the horror stories of it taking forever MS seemed to have pulled their finger out and made this a very efficient process, I got mine back within a week (I live in the UK and repairs get shipped to Germany).

Here's a quick breakdown of the process:

    1. Go to www.xbox.com/support and click on the relevant link relating to your problem.

    2. Go through the walkthrough. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AS IT COULD JUST BE A LOOSE CONNECTION. If you've still no joy you can click a link to pick whether you are a US resident or not.

    3. Type in serial number of the console (you don't need any receipts, I bought mine off eBay).

    4. They send you a shipping label and a link to arrange UPS to come and pick up your console.

    5. Bite your nails and rock manically in a corner until your console comes back (you can track the whole process at xbox.com).

I've sent back a first generation 360 and an Elite. Certainly worth considering as they will repair or replace your console!

If you want to attempt to fix the error yourself (and have no guarantee of sorting it and invalidate your warranty) search YouTube for ‘E74’ fix or ‘xbox towel trick’. This is supposed to overheated the console and re-solder dry solder joints. Only try if your warranty has run out and/or you own a bricked console!

Please rate me if any of this helped J
