Question about Hoover U6630-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum

Open Question

I have a hoover u6630-960 wind tunnel. How do you connect the torsion spring valve arm part # 38358001 with the valve arm rear - ag part # 3871948 Thank you

I have new parts but I don't know how to assemble the spring so that when the vacuum is in upright possition the flap will close to allow use of the hose.

SOURCE: repplacing power cord on Hoover Wind tunnel (not self propelled)

I am thinking that the cord goes in on the back, just below the handle. Remove the handle, then from the front, remove the tool holder(#8), then you can get to where the cord comes in and hooks up.

The vacuum has no suction at the floor. I have checked the hose, and no blockage. When I try to use the attachments, still no suction. What could be the problem.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.

You definitely have a clod between the tube by the brushroll area and the attachment hose and the best way is to take a wire hanger and make a little hook on the end to see if there is a clog, the clog is closer to the fan area and anything big would clog up the area sideways and
-- you may have to remove the top cover to see if there is a clog and to better get @ it from the top. Another suggestion is to do a belt change whether you have one or 2 belts on the vacuum and to change the belts @ the same time every 4 to 6 months. Also, check you owner’s manual under trouble shooting to see if there is something else, other wise that is what I think is the problem. This happens all the time on our vacuum. Just remove the handle and switch the button manually inside. You will have to do this from time to time as the power switch on the outside will constantly stop working. This, along with the belt replacements are the common complaints on this machine.

My wife picked one up on the side of the road that someone had tossed. The power switch would not turn off. I took the two bolts out of the top part of the handle, and then removed the screws along the back. This will remove the required panels to access the On/Off switch. Once I found the actual on/off button, I found it to be frozen in the "ON" position. After manipulating it for a few minutes, I got the switch to work. This machine now operates great, and I now have a Hoover :)

Have you tried to plug the vaccuum in another outlet that is on another breaker? It could be the vaccuum tripped the breaker. Turn the breaker back on. The manual mentions the thermal protector could have been activated. If this happened it resets and your vac should run after 30 minutes. I have a Widepath Tempo and it has tripped the surge protector. If this is the problem try turning some things off that are also on that breaker/outlet, or unplug them when you use the vac.

Try utube for more info or the manual if you have it. You will need a pair of needle nose pliers. Needle nose locking pliers would be easier.

My hoover wind tunnel just quit while vacuuming. It is dead??? Two years old used about every other week? Any suggestions?


Some Wind Tunnels by Hoover have a poor design in the switch on the handle. Sometimes the switch does not turn on all the way and will stop running. Other times you can't turn the unit off.

Contact Dyson regarding the fault.
There is a 5 year warranty on parts their customer service is amazing . They may send you a part to fit if faulty .

My wand reset button assembly came apart. When I reassembled the button is now loose. There appears to be something missing. There is no resistance ,spring like when pushing yellow release button.

The grey pre-filter catch broke and we ordered a new one. now we don't know how to install it.


I just successfully completed this replacement on a DC33 (the prefilter catch is blue on this model.) Not sure how different the assembly is from the DC07 but thought I would post: If you turn the vacuum over there are two screws that loosen the exhaust pipe--one you can see and one up a small shaft (which also loosens the cowling just under the cyclonic assembly.) Both will require a driver or allen-style wrench with a medium-sized star head. Remove both and you will be able to take off the exhaust pipe. You'll need to pull back the aforementioned cowling a bit as you do this. Once the exhaust pipe is off you will be able to see the bottom of the prefilter catch. You'll notice five tiny bays--if you shine a flashlight through you'll see that between bays 2 and 3 there is a small catch (you can note it at the bottom of your replacement prefilter catch as well.) Shove two extra small screw drivers (like the size you get in eyeglass repair kits) into bays 2 & 3, then gently press down on the driver handles to release the catch. A little pushing at the same time will remove your broken prefilter catch. DON'T INSTALL YOUR NEW CATCH YET! Otherwise, like me, you'll have to immediately remove it to reinstall the exhaust pipe :) This was the most time consuming part of the whole operation, as you kind of have to fenangle it a bit to get it back on. Be patient and don't forget to pull the cowling back again while you're doing this. Once it's back on, realign the cowling at the top of the assembly and replace the screws. Then you can turn the vacuum upright again to easily snap in your new prefilter catch.
