SOURCE: Toilet seat too loose

Is the nut thats on the under side fastened all the way and If you've done that and the screw keeps getting loose then the threads inside the nut or on the screw may be worn away. If thats the case, you may have to by some new screws and I'm not sure if they sell those separately you would usually have to buy a new toilet seat to get new screws, but try home depot or walmart.

Where is the serial number - toilet is 25 yrs old and need a new toilet seat.

Typically there is no serial number associated with a toilet seat. The seat will either be a round front or an elongated seat. Just make sure the shape is the same when purchasing the replacement seat.

Have to replace two new toilets seats, the seats move

Martin, Jacuzzi has a one year warranty on toilet seats so if you have defective seats and they were purchased less than a year it is covered you will have to find a dealer near you, I provided a link for you to accomplish this. How is the seat attached? There should be two plastic screws with a nut on the underside which can be tightened these tend to loosen and nee re-tightening every so often. I hope this has helped. Thanks for using FIXYA, good luck and have a great day. Jeff

How to fix loose toilet seat on old blue toilet

Whether the bolts are nylon or brass, they all come loose after a while. The culprit is oversize holes in the china bowl. To solve the problem, go to the auto parts store and buy a short length of fuel hose, just large enough to slip over the toilet seat bolt. Cut two short pieces of hose off -- about 1/4 inch each -- with a sharp bread knife or utility knife. Fit the pieces of hose into the toilet seat mounting holes in the bowl. If the hose is too large, snip a small segment out of it to make it into a "C" shape, just large enough that the cut ends touch when inserted into the mounting holes. Install the seat as usual and snug up the nuts.

Once movement of the seat is prevented, the bolts tend to stay tight. I've performed this trick on a number of my own and friends' toilet seats and they've stayed put for 8-10 years with no signs of loosening, yet can be removed easily for maintenance and cleaning.

Use fuel hose, as it is durable and does not deteriorate with exposure to air. This trick won't work with electrical tape, duct tape or masking tape, as those materials are too soft and the adhesive cold-flows under pressure.

The pneumatic cylinder that controls the lowering probably needs to be serviced or replaced. Here is a link to the manufacturer website:
