Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
Red light no power to consol. will not turn on when hit power button
This happened to me before also. What I learned is that this either means that your console AC adapter (the big power brick) is not getting enough power or is not properly plugged. If this is the case, I would suggest that your try plugging the console to a different wall outlet, and make sure not to use any UPS, surge protectors or power strips to plug in your AC adapter. See if that works.
Also please check the back of the console and see if the power connector at the back is firmly seated, and even if it' seated, I would still suggest that you reseat (unplug and replug) the power cord at the back of the xbox360.
If the above suggestions don't work, and you have another xbox360 or if you know someone who has one, it would be much better to try swapping AC adapters and see if you get a response if you try a known working AC adapter on your console and you will also isolate the problem if it's your game console or just your AC adapter that has the problem.
If all else fails, you may have to call up microsoft for further help and support, since your problem may require servicing of your console.
Hope this helps!

I don't know how to fix it if it happens randomly other than to let the system cool down and re-plug it in 10 minutes later
if you mod the 360 (i.e. Xclamps, fans etc)
it has been noted to be caused by a short of the grounding, try loosening the screws slightly on the metal casing and the 3 screws by the power button, it worked for me - hope this helps,

Hardware problem. Most likely a break in a solder connection on the mother board and cpu. You need to send it to Microsoft to get it repaired. There is an extended warranty on the 3 ROL, so it will be free.
Here is the link to Microsoft Support here . Sign in and submit a service request.
