Question about Baby Lock Esante

1 Answer

I have a 10 yr. old Baby Lock Esante that when trying to fill a bobbin, I get this error message: Safety device has operated. Check if thread is tangled or if needle is bent, then the machine stops. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? It was just serviced before this started happening..

Thanks Debbi for your response. There really is no place for the thread to be caught when just trying to fill a bobbin. i have now brought it in to a shop to have it looked at.

  • betsban Mar 15, 2012

Again, thanks. There really isn't a place for the thread to get caught, everything is visible to me. I've rethread about 40 times, and nothing changes, that's why I brought it to the shop...and it does thread on top pushing the empty bobbin over to the right.

    Thanks.

I would suggest rethreading the machine to make sure the thread is not caught somewhere, & even change the needle or check to make sure the needle is in correctly & pushed all the way up in the needle holder
& if that doens't help then take it back to the repair shop & tell them about the problem

  • on sewing machine that fill the bobbin inside the bobbin case, the thread doesn't get caught,, but on sewing machines that you have a spindle that is pushed to the right side yes, the thread can get caught in the thread guides at time & cause problems.

SOURCE: Not picking up bobbin

http://www.babylock.com/embroidery/ellure/

Have you looked at your manual or bought the more expensive machine book from your dealer?
I wasn't happy at the addtional cost at the time (I spent $2200 US that day) BUT
I have found my book for my Evolve a VERY good investment (70 bucks, but worth every penny these past 2 years!) You may find the same for your Ellure.

Baby Lock have very good cust. service either on the web or right at your dealer. Most dealers will give free lessons upon your request.
I hope this helped, PS I'm a bit jealous.... I REALLY wanted that machine too!
Happy Sewing and Good luck with your baby!

SOURCE: Thread is gettting caught in

It could be that your bobbin case popped out of position. Try removing and resetting it.
It could be that you have no upper tension, either lint in the tension discs or upper thread is mis-threaded and did not get down into the tension discs (make sure lifter lever is up when threading so the discs are open).
good luck!

SOURCE: Not picking up the Bobbin thread

Sounds like you have to take off the throat plate and clean out threads under it.  Sometime they ball up and prevent the needle from going down and catching the bobbin thread. You can't see themuntil you take off the plate.  Follow the directions.  It is easy.

SOURCE: on a babylock elegante the bobbin thread shows,

Have you reset the tensions for this machine, look in your manual and follow directions. If this is an Elegante there is also a set of instructions on the machine. On the LCD screen there is a picture of a sewing machine with a question mark, touch it, find Troubleshooting and touch that then find the problem you are having and read. If this does not help take it to a Brother dealer and have it reset so as to keep you machine in good running order.

It says check for broken thread and the thread isn't broken

Pull both the top thread and the lower thread bobbin off. Check if there is thread caught in anywhere along the running mechanism, especially in the lower bobbin area. If there is no thread caught make sure the tension on the thread is not to tight.

Babylock Esante stopped. Just makes loud noise but won't move even manually.

You probably have a jam. Start digging under the bobbin area.

If you get it all cleaned up under there... and it still won't move. Time for service by a pro. Could be something horrid like a bent shaft.

Good luck

Open the top part of the machine. My mom just bought one and it had lots of thread inthe thread path of the thread on top. You have to open up the area that the thread runs thru. It solved her problem of thread breaking. She found lots of thread inside.

Since the needle broke, it could have knocked your machine out of time--requiring service.

FIRST, try this: Remove the upper thread from the machine, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Frequently, when the thread "jumps" out of the thread path (or wraps around a guide or the spool), the thread will stitch about an inch and then break. If you watch the upper thread when you are stitching, do you see the thread tightening, tightening, tightening and then Snap?

As far as the bobbin installation, you would need to consult your owner's manual.

Bobbin thread shows on top of machine embroidery

You are not getting bobbin tension somehow. Either not threaded correctly in the assembly or it needs to be adjusted tighter.

Not picking up the bobbin thread

Make sure the needle is facing the right way. If it's in backwards it won't pick up the bobbin thread.

Not picking up the Bobbin thread

I cleaned the machine good with canned air, oiled it. I took out the bobbin case and cleaned it good also. I then noticed the tension screw on the bobbin case was loose, tightened it and the problem was fixed.
